Broadway's The Lion King Celebrates A Milestone

That's right theatre fans. The Lion King is celebrating a major milestone today. The show, which premiered on Broadway in November 1997 at the New Amsterdam Theatre, played it's 9,000th performance, making it the third longest running show in Broadway history.

Not bad for a show based on a cartoon. Sorry. Animated film. Winner of six 1998 Tony Awards, including Best Musical of the Year, The Lion King continues to delight audiences of all ages eight times a week at the New Amsterdam Theatre.
