A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

Having been in the ticket selling business for almost thirteen years now I can honestly say I have seen it all. I've seen shows that got amazing reviews and yet struggled to find an audience. I've also seen shows that while maybe not my cup of tea run for years and years. So what is your favorite show? Now those of you who read my blogs know that Rent is still my all-time favorite show with the recently departed In The Heights a close second.

In fact Rent is scheduled to return this Summer Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Now of the current shows running I would have to say my favorites are Jersey Boys and Rock of Ages which is set to re-open at the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24. If you haven't seen either one I highly suggest you do. In the next two months there are twenty-two news shows set to open. Fourteen of those are plays. When was the last time that happened?

Now when I first moved here musicals were what got me to the theatre. However with most new musicals being based on a movie or in Spider-Man's case a cartoon strip I am more likely to see a new play then some over the top musical. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoyed shows like The Addams Family and the new revival of La Cage Aux Folles. But it's nice to see something new and original again on Broadway instead of cartoon and movies turned into musicals.

Yes I know they have a place just like revivals do. That's the good thing about Broadway I guess. There is something for everybody.I mean let's face it there is no better feeling than sitting in a crowded theater waiting for the unexpected to begin. Over the years my favorites may have changed but one thing has not. My love for the theatre. That is forever. Live theatre. There is nothing like it. Until next time theatre fans.
