Whoopi Goldberg Returns To Broadway In 'Xanadu' and Applause Theatre Service has an Insider Deal for You!

My girl from The View, Whoopi Goldberg is back on Broadway in the hit musical "Xanadu". She just started this week and apparently is having some difficulty remembering her lines! Reports are that she is using cue cards!! YIKES!
Ms. Goldberg is playing the role of Caliope which was originally created by the hilarious Jackie Hoffman(who is returning to the role when Whoopi's limited run ends on September 7th).
In a statement, Whoopi said "What better way to stick my toe back onto the Broadway stage than to join the amazing cast of "Xanadu". It's such a fun show and is definitely my sensibility, as written by the divine Douglas Carter Beane. For me, it's going to be unbelievable".
Who cares if she's having some memorization issues! She's Whoopi and she probably improvises through most of the show! I saw the show when it first opened and was really surprised at how much fun it was! It's 90 minutes of non-stop hilarity with great classic songs we all love from the original cult classic movie that starred Olivia Newton John.
Whoopi loves the stage and has continued the tradition Rosie O'Donnell started on The View of having all the shows perform live and promote Broadway the way it deserves to be promoted!
So take advantage of our Applause Insider Deal which gives Applause customers some Big Savings!
It's fast and easy! Just call an Applause Sales Expert at 800-451-9930 and mention The Deal on Xanadu! Never a wait, always a live body waiting to take care of you!

Applause Theatre Service Celebrates Avenue Q's Fifth Birthday on Broadway July 31

The puppet-friendly musical "Avenue Q" recently celebrated another milestone when it played its 2,000th performance on Broadway June 3. This zany half crazed musical is now the 25th longest-running production in Broadway history, now in it's Fifth year on Broadway, it has now surpassed the original runs of South Pacific (1,925) and Pippin (1,944).
I have to tell you that I hadn't yet seen this show when the Tony Awards were announced the year this show opened, which so happened to be the same year one of my favorite musicals of all time opened, "Wicked". Needless to say I was not happy that my show lost out on the Best Musical Tony to this little show that could. So off to the theatre I went to see what all the hubbub was about and I have to say that I laughed myself silly! We had a ball! What a surprise! And now it's no surprise to me that this show is still packing them in nightly at the John Golden Theatre.
If you're not sure that this is the show for you(Definitely for Mature Audiences only!), then take advantage of the Applause Insider Deal for some big savings and take a chance at seeing a show I am sure you're going to Love! Call one of the Sales Experts here at Applause Theatre Service including myself, just ask for Erik, and mention the deal, it's so fast and easy. Call us at 800-451-9930 or 212-307-7050. Never a machine or wait! We're Live and waiting to take care of you!

Bailey Hanks, a 20 year old from Anderson, South Carolina, was named the winner of MTV's Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods in the shows finale on July 21. Guys And Dolls To Return To Broadway Spring 2009

It was just announced today that Guys and Dolls, last seen on Broadway in 1995, will return to the Great White Way in a new production directed by Two-Time Tony winner Des McAnuff.(Jersey Boys)Based on a story and characters by Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.Guys and Dolls has been a personal favorite of mine since high school when I played Benny Southstreet.(Nathan Detroit's right-hand man)The 1992 Revival was first rate and I expect this one to be just as good if not better. Those of you who have seen Jersey Boys are well aware of the skills that Mr. McAnuff possesses. And you can be sure that a show of this magnitude will seek some "Big Stars" for the four lead roles. This is sure to be one of the hottest tickets of the 2008-2009 season.

13, A New Musical Set To Open On Broadway This October

Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown's new show 13 has announced dates for it's Broadway run. Previews will begin Sept. 16 at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre toward an opening on Oct. 5.The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless," according to the producers.

According to production notes, "Evan Goldman has it all — he's popular, has the perfect family and lives in the greatest city in the world — New York. That is until his parents get divorced and he's forced to move with his Mom…to Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, he has to make new friends and somehow maneuver his way through the minefield of High School to become part of the 'in-crowd.'"

I have been a big fan of Mr. Brown's music ever since I saw his production of Parade in 1999.He is also the writer of Songs For A New World and another favorite The Last Five Years. If the music is as half as good as those then it is sure to be a winner. And for those of you that can't wait until October I suggest checking out the shows official website at www.13the musical.com. You can also download the title track as well.

The Broadway revival of "Godspell" announces more casting that includes a famous American Idol !!

Groovy Baby, Peace! Broadway travels back in time this summer and fall with the Public's revival of "Hair" in Central Park and "Godspell" returns in the fall on September 29Th at the Ethel Barrymore theatre. For you "Wicked" fans out there, Stephen Schwartz who wrote the score for Wicked also wrote this piece much earlier in his career. And what a score it is with song titles that include "Day By Day," "Save The People," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side."
And for all of you American Idol fanatics, "American Idol" finalist Diana DeGarmo has joined the cast along with "In the Heights" Joshua Henry, "Rent's" Telly Leung, The Wedding Singer's David Josefsberg and more will join the previously announced Gavin Creel (Tony nominee for Thoroughly Modern Millie) for the upcoming Broadway revival of Godspell.

In an earlier statement by the shows producer Daniel Epstein, he said, "When I saw Daniel Goldstein's production of Godspell at the Paper Mill Playhouse, I was overpowered by its vibrancy and relevance. This Broadway production will take that experience to an even more glorious level. It is essential that the power of this production and how it moves people lives on at its highest potential."

I'm not sure how this show will fare in a season where there are so many new musicals opening up, but it is a classic and hopefully it will find its audience!
Call Applause Theatre Service at 800-451-9930 and speak to an Applause sales expert for more information on all of these shows and all events around the world!

Harry Potter and Shrek, two of the most famous fictional characters of All Time Arrive on Broadway this fall!

Well it's shaping up to be an incredible year on Broadway! With such hits as "South Pacific", "In the Heights", Disney's "The Little Mermaid", I mean I can name a bunch of other great shows that have opened this season and I believe the best is yet to come!
Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe joins the great Tony winner Richard Griffiths in the Tony winning Best Play revival of "Equus" that begins preview performances September the 5Th. It's the same production that received rave reviews in London. Mr. Potter has grown up and will show us all how much so when he appears, dare I say? Completely in the nude! Scandalous! Note: contains nudity and other mature content. Well tickets are now on sale for what is sure to be a very HOT ticket! You thought it was tough to get the new book when they came out? This ticket is going to be almost impossible at some point unless you call an Applause Sales Expert now to book now by calling 800-451-9930.
And a Superstar Ogre arrives on Broadway as well this fall, "Shrek"! which after hearing from my colleagues who attended a sneak peak at the show last week said this could very well be the next "Wicked"! Well it's no wonder with the people who are behind it, Dreamworks! The company run by that little known Director Mr. Steve Spielberg. This is their first theatrical venture and I'm certain that they are going to pull out all the stops! It stars the cream of the Broadway theatre crop!
Let's not forget "Billy Elliot" written by Elton John, the London smash hit headed here October 1st. Whew! It can't get more exciting than this, can it? I've been selling tickets now for over 20 years and this could very well be the best season that I've seen yet!
We have you're very best seats at the absolute best prices! Please don't hesitate to call us now and get your tickets to these upcoming blockbusters before it's too late!!

Blogging In 2008

Here is is Saturday morning and I find myself sitting at the computer trying to find something to blog about. As most of you know in recent years blogging has become one of the most successful if not the most successful ways to get info out to the masses about either you or your product. When my boss Richard Gladstone AKA The Ticket Man introduced it to me last fall I wasn’t sure what to expect. Why would someone be interested in what I have to say? I just write about theatre. There are hundres of people that do that on a daily basis. Blogs were created so people could share their views about life, themselves, and anything else that pops into their head on a daily basis. You may not have to agree with everything they say or even care for that matter, but let's face the facts. Without blogs you might have never heard of your new favorite show or the lastest craze. Blogs work. Who would have thought? I know I didn't.

West Side Story Returns To Broadway This Spring

The new Broadway production of West Side Story, directed by Arthur Laurents, will begin previews Feb. 23, 2009, at a Nederlander theatre to be announced at a later date. According to producer Kevin McCollum,(Tony Award winning producer of Rent, Avenue Q, and In The Heights)this new production will "introduce the unprecedented element of selectively weaving Spanish throughout both the book and songs." West Side Story librettist Arthur Laurents who was recently lauded for his highly successful production of Gypsy recently stated that,"This show will be radically different from any other production of West Side Story ever done. The musical theatre and cultural conventions of 1957 made it next to impossible for the characters to have authenticity. Every member of both gangs was always a potential killer even then. Now they actually will be. Only Tony and Maria try to live in a different world." Expect this new production of this landmark musical to be one of the most highly anticipated of the season. I can't wait!

Billy Elliot-The Musical is coming to New York and tickets are now on sale with Applause Theatre Service!

I'm so excited about the new smash hit musical "Billy Elliot" that arrives here on Broadway in just a short couple of months, October 1 being the first preview date. Critics have compared this show to some of the all time best musicals including "Oliver"! That sure says a lot. I had the awesome pleasure of going to the launch event of this show this past April and none other than Sir Elton John himself was there to sing some of the music and introduce the 3 new young incredible actors who proceeded to sing and dance which brought the house down. We received a copy of the CD upon leaving the performance and I absolutely fell in love with the score. I am not alone as my boss and owner of Applause Theatre Service could not stop listening to it and would come into the office singing these songs.
I would like to share a video with you that was sent to me today from the producers of the show which is from this event of which I spoke about and it will give you a taste of what's in store for us; Click here.
Well, times a wasting! These tickets are going to be so hot and impossible to get real soon, so call an Applause sales expert now and order your tickets at the best price around!
Oh, and by the way, if you're heading across the pond to London, it's selling like gangbusters over there as well but we have got the best seats to this show and all events playing in London. Just contact Claudia or Jay in our London department or any sales expert for that matter! 800-451-9930 or 212-307-7050

Applause Theatre Service Announces Extension of Insider Prices thoughout the Summer of 2008

Broadway ticket buyers have been shopping and purchasing their theatre tickets from Applause for over 21 years now. About 4 years ago we created something very special for our customers. We found a way to bring about special Insider's Prices for anywhere from 15-23 Broadway Shows for many "off peak" performances throughout the year. Another words, shows that occasionally find themselves not selling out of all their tickets and offering special "insider prices" to stimulate sales for their productions. So instead of quoting the usual "often very high prices" to many a ticket shopper, we were able to make better purchases and bring about "better prices" to people that ordinarily would simply not make a purchase. the cool thing is that we help "fill up the theatre" during these "of peak" times, the consumer gets prices that allow them to still see a Broadway Show, and for Applause, we get to make a customer happy and make a sale at the same time.

This program has become so successful for us that we are turning on lots of customers to these Insider Ticket Deals. The really good news for Applause is that when these customers want to see the "hottest and most difficult shows" in town, they are only too happy to pay us the going rate including a reasonable service charge. We really believe that the public wants to shop wherever they feel the can "trust" a merchant to be truthful and fair, not to mention friendly like we like to think we are.

This summer we are selling lots of tickets to Broadway Shows offering our Insider Ticket Deals. We will continue to offer these great Broadway Show ticket deals throughout the Summer of 2008 and my guess is that we will do so even throughout the Fall and WINTER season. People understand the fantastic deals may not be available for certain performances, often on a Saturday evening or a holiday. But I think, all in all, our customers are happy knowing they have a ticket company they can trust. A company that can go above and beyond to help secure the best seats for the best shows, and at the very best prices around.

And what about service? Let me tell you about service. The Applause Broadwaymaniacs (I mean that in a fun, good kind of way), as we all love the Broadway Theater, are committed to taking lots of time with our customers, often having several conversations about a ticket purchase. Transactions are not our thing really, talking to people, making them happy and getting them the seats they want for a fair price is what we like to do. Our customers kind of like they way we do things also.

Seeing how we are in the middle of the Summer of 2008, I thought I would list a few shows that are selling very well, some may even have some special Insider Ticket Deals to offer as well, up to around Labor Day of this year. They are:

August:Osage County

Broadway Theatre Tickets and Rising Prices-Is There an End in Sight?

Dear Theatre Friends,

I have been selling tickets for Broadway Shows for over 31 years now. I think the top priced seat in 1977 was for the great musical "Annie" at the previously called Alvin Theater in New York. A Saturday night price for an orchestra seat was $17.50 as I can best recall. My, how prices have changed.

These days the price for a musical ticket like Wicked, Jersey Boys, South Pacific, The Little Mermaid and other amazing Broadway Shows have a face value of over $120.00 at least on the weekends give or take a little. Then when just about anyone buys a ticket, after paying standard industry service charges, a theatre-goer might end up paying $145 to $200, sometimes even more, depending on which ticket outlet you buy from.

I could go on and on about why the public should shop around but the 2 key reasons I keep thinking about as I run my little ticket agency Applause Theatre Service, are very basic ones really. For me I believe our customers need "service", you know, someone you can really talk to. The second reason is to find someone you can "trust" to help you find the type of seat you want and for the price you want to pay.

There are hundreds of ticket companies in the United States, just have a look on the Internet. I guess you could click on a dozen or so web sites and see if you can decipher all the different prices, seat locations, seating maps and mailing fees. But simply looking at a web site cannot really give you the feeling that someone is there for you, you know someone you can trust to find you the seats you need. It is the single reason why we place a very prominent picture of our terrific staff on our Applause Home Page. And that we ask you to "call us", so you can put a voice with the face you see.

I started this blog talking about the high price of theatre tickets, not only in New York but all over the country. The prices in Las Vegas are higher than New York, and that is for a somewhat "scaled down version" of a Broadway Show. The shows are good but why pay more in Las Vegas? I just don't get it.

Applause has been an integral part of the Broadway Theatre industry for a long time now. We feel that our "stellar service", people and tickets are second to no other company in the industry, particularly for the price we charge and the service we provide.

Applause knows the shows, is an expert at the availability and how tough a ticket for a show is to come by. That being said, you might want to check out Applause's Insider Ticket Deals, It's very simple and there is nothing hidden. We simply find out what Insider Prices are being offered and pass on the savings to our customers. If our retail price is $145 to $166, we often have the ability to buy them at special prices and after passing on savings will only sell them to our customers for $90 to $110. This sort of rolls back the prices several years right? If this sounds good to you, you should call us in New York at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 1-800-451-9930. You can check out the Applause web site or call us seven days a week. We love to talk to people about theatre.

So maybe the solution to constantly rising Broadway ticket prices is simple. Contact someone you can trust like Applause Theatre Service. Then decide for yourself.

We hope to hear from you soon. Here's a list of several shows with descriptions for your enjoyment. They are:

Wicked
Jersey Boys
South Pacific
The Little Mermaid
The Lion King
Mary Poppins
Hairspray
Grease

Gypsy
Legally Blonde
Rent
Xanadu
Young Frankenstein

South Pacific on Broadway is the "hot ticket" this year

Hello theatre friends,

In the 31 years that I have been in the ticket business I have seen shows come and go. Some last a few months. Then there are those like The Phantom of the Opera that are still running 20 years later. You never know. This years "big ticket seller" by far is the 50 year old revival of South Pacific. It seems like just about every 4th or 5th phone call Applause gets is a person requesting seats to this terrific "old fashioned" Broadway Show. That's the good news really. The bad news is that it plays at a theatre with only a thousand seats or so, so of course that is what is making this "hard to get ticket", even harder to get my friends.

There are two pieces of great news though. First, the show plays at Lincoln Center's very intimate Vivian Beaumont Theater. The second piece of great news is if you make a simple call to Applause Theatre Service in New York City you will be able to get great seats. And they won't cost you "an arm and a leg" either.

Applause is open seven days a week throughout the year and has an excellent reputation for its superbly trained and expert sales staff. They don't just push you to buy a ticket as they want to make sure you are completely comfortable with your purchase. If that's not enough, get this friends. They will tell you the really fun places to eat, places to sight-see, shop or even park your car. Applause is known for its dedication to excellent customer service. They're hope is for you to become a customer of course, then recommend their service to friends, co-workers and family as well.

Now back to the topic at hand, South Pacific. I have seen a few hundred shows in my career in the Broadway Show ticket business. I've loved many and South Pacific ranks up there high with many of the great ones of our time.

If you think you might want to see one or more of several other great Broadway Shows, just say the word. there are upwards of around 30 playing almost every night.

Why wait? Call Applause at their office in New York at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 1-800-451-9930. They love to talk theatre and are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

(title of show) on Broadway-Get tickets now for a fun time at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City

I just returned from seeing a very cute and extremely funny new Broadway show. It is uniquely called (title of show). The title looks a little strange but let me tell you it is a wonderfully funny and entertaining hour and 1/2 at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City.

The following is the official blurb, or short summary, of [title of show].

Blurb. That's a funny word. We spent a lot of time on this blurb so please read the whole blurb. [title of show] is a musical about two nobodies named Hunter and Jeff who decide to write a completely original musical starring themselves and their attractive and talented lady friends, Susan and Heidi. Their musical, [title of show], gets into the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and becomes a hit. Then it gets an off-Broadway production at the Vineyard Theatre, and wins three Obie Awards! Then (drumroll if you've got a drum) it's announced that their musical is going to Broadway (hooray!) and people start seeing this blurb everywhere! They read that The New York Times called [title of show] "DELECTABLE ENTERTAINMENT! A postmodern homage to the grand tradition of backstage musicals like Babes in Arms, Kiss Me, Kate and A Chorus Line." Fully intrigued, those people snatch up tickets and help make Hunter and Jeff's life-long dream come true!

I have been in the theatre ticket sales business for 31 years now and have seen many shows. Many were great, many were very bad and once in a long while you get to see something very unique like (title of show). I have had the pleasure and opportunity of working with actors, actresses, singers and playwrights as it seems to be a business that attracts talented people in the arts. They often come join the ticket selling end of the industry just to make some money while they are "waiting to hit it big time on Broadway".

So this show turns out to be a very cute and extremely funny production about two young guys that are simply trying to take their New York Musical Theatre Festival "successful Off Broadway show" and fit it to play "ON BROADWAY" and play well to the masses. You know, they try to tone down the language so young people will come see it if and when it comes to Broadway, cut out the foul language, other things of this nature. It is like they're discovering all their original and unique characteristics that are in the Off Broadway production have to be re-evaluated to fit the "mainstream" Broadway theatre-goer. I won't tell you the ending, get yourself some tickets to see this very good Broadway production. Sure it feels like its Off Broadway but its supposed to. No one expected Avenue Q to be a hit a few years ago on Broadway but it did become one. In my mind, anything can happen on Broadway so why not have (title of show) become a hit? In The Heights might seems to want to play to a somewhat lesser than "mass" type of theatre audience but it won the Tony Award for the 2008 BEST MUSICAL. You should get tickets for this winner of a show also.

Everyone knows I like most shows I get to see and I try to give a positive view of what I see on the stage but believe me, I will tell you when a show is just plain "bad". This new show (title of show) is a real winner, You might even want to see it then pick another maybe more mainstream show playing on Broadway, just so you can see the vast abundance of talent creating theatrical experinces for all of us theatre lovers.

I work with a guy by the name of J.William Bruce, our most experienced theatre blogger, top ticket seller and all around theatre expert and he has been involved in writing his own musicals for years now. While I was sitting in the audience tonight with my wife Celeste, I kept thinking how much J. wants his very own creation called Avarice to be produced on Broadway. I recently saw a "reading" of Avarice this past April 2008 which starred former RENT Tony Award Winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia, a close associate of J's. It was also wonderfully entertaining and J. keeps working on it to make it even better, bigger and brighter than it already is. Kind of like tonight's terrific piece of theatre (title of show). I'm sure J. has the ability to get his show produced someday. But just like the guys that wrote (title of show), he may have to keep working the theatre scene to get some producer's attention until it gets produced. It's hard work that's for sure friends.

It has taken me weeks to get used to the title. I mean it looks odd to see a poster on Broadway and in brochures and hotel magazines that says (title of show) right? Get yourself some tickets, take some friends, maybe think about my blog tonight. If it weren't for guys like my friend J. or the 2 very funny gentlemen Hunter and Jeff that wrote (title of show), we wouldn't have the privilige of finding ourselves greatly entertained at the theatre tonight.

The cast members are:
Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jeff Bowen, Larry Pressgrove, Courtney Balan, Benjamin Howes. They are all wonderfully talented actors and have a bright future in the theatre. I wish them well.

If my personal review of (title of show) appeals to you, you may want to give the friendly Broadway and Off Broadway experts at Applause Theatre Service a call to secure amazing seats to this unique piece of theatre. Applause is open seven days a week all year long. The local phone number is 212-307-7050 and the toll free number is 1-800-451-9930.

Not only will Applause get you the best seats at the best prices (you may even get some Insider discount prices before the show officially opens) but Applause will suggest places to have some nice dinners before the theatre, places to park your car, places to shop, sightsee-you name it, they will help you plan a terrific time in the Broadway Theatre and anything else you might need.

Former Wicked Star Kristen Chenoweth Keeps Busy

Kristen Chenoweth, one of my favorite Broadway stars most recently seen in Wicked, still doing amazing ticket business after many years in New York, is writing her autobiography. I understand it is called A Little Bit Wicked and is due out in the Spring of 2009 and I can't wait to get my copy.

Kristen is one of those very talented actresses that can handle the most demanding role in a top Broadway show as well as the extremely difficult daily routine of starring in a television series like The West Wing as well as a new one called Pushing Daisies.

Kristen has had a terrific Broadway career starring in Off Broadway's The Fantastiks and Scapin as well as Broadway's Steel Pier, The Apple Tree. You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (for which she won her first Tony Award) as well as playing Glinda, the good witch in Wicked, still playing to sold out crowds after 5 years now.

I often see Kristen walking around New York City wearing a baseball cap and she appears to be a very friendly person saying hello to people that stop her when they notice the former Wicked star coming their way. Boy it would sure be wonderful to have Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel (who played opposite Kristen in the role of Elfaba the Wicked Witch in Wicked) back in their respective role just one more time on Broadway. Do you hear that Wicked Producers? A pretty cool idea if I say so myself.

Anyway, I wish Kristen much success with her new autobiography. I often leave my office when taking a lunch break and walk outside with a favorite book I am reading at the time. Who knows, maybe I will be lucky enough to bump into Kristen Chenoweth again and ask her for an autograph. I bet her life's story will make an interesting read.

For all those Wicked fans out there who loved the show and have seen it numerous times or to those who are interested in seeing other superb Broadway Shows, you can simply call the friendly folks at Applause Theatre Service in New York City. These people know theatre very well and there is never any pressure to buy tickets. They're also a very reliable source for current and future happenings on Broadway and know lots about really good places to eat.

Applause is open seven days a week throughout the year. You can call them in New York City at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 1-800-451-9930. Go on, give them a call. Ask them a question. These guys know Broadway like no one else.

Take care now,
Rich Gladstone

The Broadway Ticket Man Comes out of the Closet with the Applause Ticket News Blog

I know this sounds kind of corny but when I first signed up to open a Broadway Ticket News Blog, I signed all my blog postings as The Broadway Ticket Man. Someone told me I don't have to use my real name. The truth is that I am a licensed Broadway Theatre Ticket Reseller and have been for all of my 31 year career now.

My name is Rich Gladstone and my company is called Applause Theatre Service. We are one of the most respected Broadway ticket agencies since we opened for business 21 years ago. We serve hotel concierge in New York hotels, as well as tour operators that include show tickets in their amazing New York hotel and theatre packages. These companies bring lots of people to New York and we provide tickets to their customers. Oh yes, we also serve the needs of tens of thousands of travel agencies world wide and consumers every minute or so as we are becoming very well known to offer the most personalized and caring ticket service in the country. Sounds like we're bragging but it is the truth. People want service and serve is what we do.

We can secure tickets for you for the most "in demand" shows like South Pacific, Wicked, Jersey Boys, August:Osage County , Gypsy, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Grease or several other popular shows playing on Broadway.

We are open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our local phone is 212-307-7050 or you can also call us toll free at 1-800-451-9930.

I have attached a photo of me so you can see The Broadway Ticket Man that blogs every day or two has a name, Rich Gladstone. If you click here you can see a photo, I'm the guy on the left, my partner Bill Stolting is the cool guy with the glasses on the right in the FAQ page I wrote.

Final Chances to see 3 of Hollywood's Biggest Stars in "The Country Girl" with Applause Theatre Service

Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand and Peter Gallager are all currently on Broadway through July 20th only in the Mike Nichols directed, "The Country Girl".
This is what the NY Post says;
"MORGAN FREEMAN, FRANCES McDORMAND
and PETER GALLAGHER ARE SUPERB!
Crisply directed by MIKE NICHOLS, 'THE COUNTRY GIRL'
features some of the finest acting of the season!"
-Clive Barnes, NY Post
I honestly feel this will be the last time to catch Morgan Freeman in a live stage performance. He said this was a lot of work for him and he's more of a movie type of guy as he's proven with his Academy Award winning and nominated performances over his incredible career.
I was taken in with this show which is well directed, has a smart story written by the great Clifford Odets and of course the amazing performances by three great actors! Especially for me Frances McDormand from one of my all time favorite movies, Fargo!
So call now and get your tickets fast before it's too late. Also, if you act now, call an Applause Theatre Service sales expert and mention the Applause Insider deal for some big savings. 212-307-7050

Broadway Theatre's Triple Threat - Wicked- Jersey Boys- South Pacific

There are nearly 30 major Broadway Shows playing in New York City right now. And most of them are really quite enjoyable and worth seeing, believe me.

Still, I must tell you, day in and day out most of the calls we get and probably about half our tickets sold are to the top 3 popular Broadway Shows. And the winners for Applause's 3 most popular shows are Wicked, Jersey Boys and this season's revival "newcomer" South Pacific.

If you have 3 nights free or maybe a weekend where you can squeeze in a matinee and evening show in the same day, you will be doing yourself a great big Broadway favor friends. Applause Theatre Service has an extensive inventory of the best seats, and at the best prices of course. You can choose to shop around if you like. In the end we think you'll come back to talk to Applause. We know Broadway and consider ourselves the "local expert".

Applause Theatre Service is open seven days a week all year through. If Wicked, Jersey Boys and South Pacific aren't what you had in mind, why not call us and inquire about Applause's Insider Ticket Deals for nearly 15 shows or so. Shows like The Phantom of the Opera, Monty Python's Spamalot, Avenue Q, A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins and a few others can be had for $40-50.00 off Applause's regular retail prices.

If your an avid fan of Broadway Theatre, we suggest checking out the Applause Ticket News Blog, where our resident Broadwaymaniacs Erik Swanson, Jay William Bruce and Applause founder Rich Gladstone often write interesting articles about the ever changing happening's on Broadway's Great White Way. It's pretty cool if we say so ourselves. Other Broadway type blogs have some great postings but Applause's talks about shows, stars and how to "score amazing seats at really good Insider prices" on new shows as well as the top and most "in demand" productions.

Give Applause a call when you want to talk theatre. We like to think we are "real people you can trust" when it comes to thinking about which show you may want to see in New York. We sell tickets all over the country but New York's what we do best.

You can call Applause seven days a week at 212-307-7050 in New York or toll free at 1-800-451-9930.

That's all for now theatre friends. Let us hear from you when your plans include attending a Broadway Show or if you just want to talk theatre.

Get Tickets to South Pacific, This Year's Most Popular Show

I have had the pleasure of seeing nearly 30 Broadway Shows in the past year or so. My company Applause Theatre Service is a licensed theatre ticket agency and we get invited to just about every show. It makes sense for the producers of the shows to treat the top ticket sellers in New York as we have the ability to sell lots and lots of theatre tickets.

Whether a show has been running for a long time like Phantom Of The Opera or The Lion King, ticket brokers sell them all. This year's standout "runaway hit" show is clearly an old fashioned favorite, South Pacific. This show has all the elements of great theatre, beautiful sets, lighting and costumes as well as wonderfully talented actors like Kelli O'Hara, Paulo Szot and Danny Burstein. South Pacific is a revival of a 50 year old show but seems to carry with it a "freshness" just like it was recently created for the stage, not just another Broadway revival of days gone by.

There's an awful lot of theatre playing right now on Broadway but for my money, especially for those of you that don't get to see a Broadway show too often, I would buy tickets for South Pacific. If you need help, feel free to call a local Broadway ticket expert like Applause Theatre Service, located in the heart of New York City.

Whether you choose South Pacific or another popular show like Wicked or Jersey Boys, when you call Applause, you are calling real people you can trust. They will help you get the best seats for any show you want to see, and at the best prices for sure.

If you are budget conscious and need to watch how much you spend on tickets, you should ask for Applause's Insider Ticket Deals. There are usually around 15-17 shows that we can buy at special rates and pass the savings on to our customers.

We are here to help you. Our company is open seven days a week throughout the year. You can call our toll free number at 1-800-451-9930 or locally at 212-307-7050. We would appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you, your friends and family or even colleagues you may work with.

We hope to see you soon. Enjoy the Applause Ticket News blog whenever you get a chance. We know the stuff we're talking about, especially how to get the best seats for the best shows at the best prices.

See you soon at the theatre I hope.

One of the greatest musicals of all time, South Pacific tickets are available with Applause Theatre Service

I am here to talk about my favorite musical of the year and quite possibly of all time, "South Pacific". It’s at least in my top 3 shows. Winner of 7 Tony Awards this year including Best Revival of a Musical.
The revival of the 1949 musical South Pacific opens with a full 30-piece orchestra and has an amazing cast of characters, expertly directed by Bartlett Sher. Led notably by the dark and heroic Emile DeBecque of Tony-winning Best Actor in a musical and opera mainstay Paulo Szot(below) and Nellie Forbush played by the beautiful and the incredibly talented Kelli O'Hara, this is a wide-spanning musical—with jaw-dropping sets by Tony-winner Michael Yeargan evoking the whole strange and beautiful world of the South Pacific. The vast gallery of robust characters which flesh out Rodger's & Hammerstein's rich tapestry of Broadway music include the indispensable wise-guy sailor Luther Billis, played by Danny Burstein and the lovestruck Joe Cable acted by Matthew Morrison. Deserving another notable mention is the find of the year Loretta Ables Sayre as "Bloody Mary" whose performance transcends stock comedy by showing her opportunistic side doubled with her maternal tenacity for her daughter's future. This brilliant music of this long-awaited revival ranges in emotion-while dealing with the gravity of war, from boredom to the inevitable doom of battle on coral beaches, from broad comedy to hapless yearning and ultimately the triumph of impossible love...After seeing this amazing musical, I feel I've arrived at a glimpse of Broadway's famed "Golden Years", a place where beautiful music warms your soul in its bright shining sun. Run to see this important piece of musical history. It is a must see.

Applause Theatre Service in New York -Busier Than Ever Helping Consumers Save Money on Broadway Tickets

My name is Rich Gladstone and I am a licensed theatre ticket broker with Applause Theatre Service. I have been doing business in New York City since 1977.Even after 31 years I still love the theatre ticket business.

I wrote a blog posting some months ago regarding our company Applause Theatre Service having "bragging rights" when it comes to having what we feel is the "best" personal service in the Broadway Show ticket service industry in New York City. I thought it was time to update the "bragging rights" we claimed a while back. Here goes fellow theater-goers.

The ticket broker rules regarding allowable resale "service charges" have passed away last June 2007. In that time those of us veteran "legit" ticket brokers have seen lots more small companies opening up shop on the Internet, in New York City and throughout the entire country, all selling Broadway Show tickets just like we have for many years. They may be setting up shop to sell tickets but how well they perform their service is another issue.

Although I lobbied for the deregulation of allowable "resale service fees" we could charge in Albany, New York a few years ago, the goal for my company Applause Theatre Service and a few other legit ticket brokers in New York was to help further legitimize my own company. Not to bring more competition on our own small company. After all, I didn't want my kids Adam and Matt to feel funny when their friends asked them if their dad was a "scalper". So we fought for our rights as a legitimate provider of what we really and truly believed all these 21 years in business, we were entitled to, a reasonable service charge for a reliable, legitimate and personal service. We won the battle and now ticket brokers in New York can charge the service charge they think is fair. In fact many of the ticket brokers have business all over the United States.

Here's the thing I keep thinking about. So now there are many more ticket companies that are selling New York and Broadway. Is there really much more competition for Applause and some of its longtime fellow "legit" ticket broker competitors since the deregulation of "ticket resale" service charge was passed over a year ago? Are these new competitors "real" competitors or just some guys that want to "scalp" tickets and continue to deceive the public? Interesting question right?

Well if you are playing in the game of business for over 31 years like I have been, you get to see a lot my friends. I study the older more professional competition that I have always played with. I also look at some newer, professional competitors in the business. Some are good and offer pretty good personal service, many are mediocre and although I like to think our firm Applause Theatre Service is still an industry leader, you would have to "give us a try" and find out just what a reliable, personal and friendly ticket agency can do for you when seeking out amazing Broadway tickets, at the best prices around.

The thing I keep coming back to is this when studying the various different ticket agencies. It appears that all these companies offer tickets, seats for all events all over the country, mostly at crazy and very high prices for Broadway Shows. Maybe there are some people out there who have lots of money and don't mind paying high prices but is it really necessary? And in my opinion, this is really just the same old "scalper" mentality isn't it. There are lots of consumers still paying an awful lot of money for shows that are "easy to get". Why pay $200-350.00 for a show that is several years old that mostly doesn't sell out anymore? And many of these ticket companies almost force you to "buy tickets on line", without offering the ability to talk with a real live person. This makes no sense to me. When I pay for service, I expect to get service. You know someone that can tell me everything I might need to know about exactly where my seats are in the theatre or if I am paying too high a premium for a show that might not be necessary to pay. What about using a service like Applause where we can suggest places to shop or places to dine in New York City. The bottom line is SERVICE, which we spell with all capital letters friends. The public will continue to have to seek out the great level of service I am speaking of. Anyone in need of assistance and service should call an "expert" in Broadway ticketing service, that's us Applause Theatre Service.

I'll give you some examples. Right now there are tens of thousands of consumers paying full box office retail prices for good solid Broadway Shows like The Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, A Chorus Line, The Country Girl, Wicked, Jersey Boys, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Young Frankenstein, South Pacific, Billy Elliot, Grease, Gypsy, In The Heights, A Catered Affair, Boeing Boeing, Avenue Q, August:Osage Osage County, Cirque Dreams, Passing Strange, November, Monty Python's Spamalot, Xanadu, Spring Awakening, Mamma Mia, Rent, Legally Blonde, Equus, The 39 Steps, Chicago and Shrek The Musical.

Sure some of these shows are in great demand. Even Applause should be getting higher prices than we do but we are in the service business for the long run, not playing the "get rich quick" game just because there might be a new hit show in town like this year's big Tony Award Winning shows like South Pacific and In The Heights, voted Best Musical in the revival category and Best Musical respectively.

Applause's prices and service continue to amaze an industry where there are upwards of a thousand resellers now. The "bragging rights" I referred to are in tact. If you are interested in any of the shows I mentioned you should seriously give us a call today. We have a chat line if you like to get information this way. Some do and some prefer to call us toll free at 1-800-451-9930 or locally in New York at 212-307-7050, seven days a week all year long. We are even open on holidays, not so much to sell lots of tickets but really to "be there" for our customers who may be seeing a Broadway Show and might possibly have a question about where they should eat before the theatre or suggestions about sightseeing in New York. Our service is tops in the industry, give us a call and you'll see why. There is no pressure to make a purchase at Applause. We're just real people helping you get the "best seats for the best shows at the best prices".

I mentioned over 20 shows up above. There are probably more than 16 or so that we can save you lots of money on. Why not save a few bucks, it can pay for a nice meal at one of the restaurants we would be happy to suggest to you. Even though I know people that can afford to "pay retail", most people I know would like to save $40.00-50.00 on a ticket purchase. If you agree, we are here in New York City waiting for your call.

Remember our phone numbers are toll free 1-800-451-9930 with the local line of 212-307-7050. Our Applause web site is always up to date. We like to think our webmaster is the best in the business as well. His name is Eric Acevedo and can be reached at Visual Media On Line. If you need a new webmster, he's the man friends.

The title of my blog post is truer now than ever, we are becoming busier than ever. The Applause web site brings us lots and lots of consumers all in need of a "trustworthy" Broadway ticket source. That's our company Applause. We hope we can help you, your friends, family and co-workers whenever your plans include a Broadway Show in New York.

Please remember my name is Rich Gladstone and the company is Applause Theatre Service in New York. Call and ask for me personally or for one of our resident theatre experts like J.Bruce, Erik Swanson, Todd Freemen, Teresa Stanski, Carol Burg, Claudia Bombeck (she runs our London Show department as well), Bill Stolting or Billy Fitzgerald. We are here to help you get the very best seats, shows, prices and the great personal service that you desire. Enjoy a Broadway Show. I read somewhere that "there's a little bit of Broadway in everyone". Sounds good to me.

Rich Gladstone

Tale Of Two Cities Set To Open This Fall On Broadway

Jill Santoriello's A Tale of Two Cities, the Dickens-inspired musical that had a test run in Sarasota, FL, last fall, will begin Broadway previews Aug. 19 toward a Sept. 18 opening at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre."Set against the epic backdrop of the French Revolution and based on the classic Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities is a musical about injustice, vengeance and the redemptive power of love," describe press notes, "When Dr. Manette is released from the French Bastille after 17 years, he must be resurrected from the brink of madness by his daughter, Lucie. In England they meet two very different men: the exiled French aristocrat, Charles Darnay, whom Lucie marries, and the drunken cynic, Sydney Carton. Soon family secrets and political intrigue combine to draw Lucie and her family back to Paris. At the height of the Reign of Terror, the musical finds an unlikely hero in Carton, inspired by love to make an extraordinary sacrifice." James Barbour, the baritone who starred in Broadway's Assassins, Beauty and the Beast, Carousel and Jane Eyre, will be selfless, conflicted hero Sydney Carton in Broadway's new musical, A Tale of Two Cities.

Get Tickets To Thurgood With Laurence Fishburne Thru Applause Theatre Service

As most of you know Tony Award Winner Laurence Fishburne returned to Broadway this spring in Thurgood, a one man show based on the life and momentous times of Thurgood Marshall. I loved it. Where else but on a Broadway stage can you see one of the stage's finest actor's portraying one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century? I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Fishburne make his Broadway debut 16 years ago in August Wilson's Two Trains Running. Back in 1992 he was known as Larry, but even then you could see he had the theatre chops to succeed. Now we all know the story of Thurgood Marshall. A descendant of slaves who was a pioneering civil rights attorney, successfully arguing Brown v. Board of Education before the Supreme Court, who then became a member of that exclusive body and making history as the first African-American to serve. This fascinating production, which was originally scheduled to close on July 20 has been extended to August 17. Get your tickets before it is too late.
