Today as I was walking to work, as I do every day, I found myself taking my time as I made my way thru Times Square to my office on 43rd Street and 8th Avenue. My office like many ticket brokers is in the theater district. In fact I am only a block and a half away from some of Broadway's most oldest and well known theatres. Now as I made my way up Broadway I stopped at the Wintergarden Theatre (Mamma Mia) where I noticed a sign that was hanging from the marquis. It read, "The Best Time On Broadway". Since I have never seen the show I really can't agree or disagree with that statement.
Now since the show has been running around the world for over a decade I can only assume that people love it. After all a show doesn'r run that long if people aren't enjoying it. Having lived here for the better part of two decades I can pick ten to fifteen other shows that I would pick as the "The Best Time On Beoadway".Rent of course is my favorite show. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The thing is it doesn't really matter what I think. I usually see the shows for free. That's one of the perks of working in this business. What matter is that we continue to support the theatre. Now whether that's here in New York or at some small theatre in your hometown. Live theater. There is nothing like it. Until next time theatre fans.
