Now Is The Best Time To See West Side Story On Broadway

Growing up as a child the movie version of West Side Story was always a favorite of mine. Now though I have lived in New York for almost twenty years I never thought I would ever see the show on Broadway. The last revival was over 30 years ago and while popular only ran half as long as the original 1957 production. Plus with it's large cast and well known but somewhat difficult choreography it was probably hard finding a producer willing to finance a new production.

Therefore when it was announced in the fall of 2008 that the show was coming back to Broadway I was thrilled but skeptical that this new revival would not live up to my memories of the classic film. Prior to it's Broadway opening in March 2009 it opened in Washington D.C to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Things were looking good for this beloved musical. Being in the industry that I am in we often get invited to all the new shows prior to it's opening night.

That way when people call and want to know what to see or not to see in some cases we can give them an honest opinion. Finally it was time to see the show. Now as I said I did walk into the theatre with a little trepidation. I am happy to say that after almost 3hrs in the theatre I was thoroughly entertained. Now was it as good as the movie? No. Let's face it. That is a lot to live up too my friends. Is it worth seeing? You better believe it.The truth is this will probably be the last time the show will ever be revived on the Great White Way again.

I suggest you see it before it disappears for good. Now don't worry. It's not closing next week. However I would not expect it to last more than another year or so. Now for those of you who have not seen this Tony Award winning play then do I have good news for you. From now thru the end of October you can get tickets to see this beloved musical at some incredible savings. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good from October 8-10 and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see West Side Story on Broadway. Shows like these don't come around everyday so call now.
