Hard to believe that it's been almost nine years since the last revival of Sunday In The Park With George. Now while I enjoy the work of Stephen Sondheim, I do not care for all of his shows. Although I will say that Company is one of my favorite shows of all time.
So imagine my surprise when I received tickets to see the first Broadway revival of Sunday In The Park With George in the Spring of 2008. Now bear in mind the ticket was free. Therefore if I didn't like it, at least I wasn't out any money. Cut to two and a half hours later, and I knew I had just been witness to one of the greatest shows that I had ever seen.
Somehow I don't think I'll be getting free tickets to see this one. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to buy a ticket to see it. The show, which began previews last night at the Hudson Theatre will officially open on February 23, and play thru April 23. That is ten weeks for those of you keeping count. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Asford, Sunday In The Park With George is one show you do not want to miss theatre fans.
It was also recently announced by the producers of the show, that the production will not be submitted for award eligibility sue to it's limited run. Pretty noble I have to say, as the show was sure to be a big contender during award season. Either way it is sure to be one of this season's biggest hits. Get your tickets to see Sunday In The Park With George on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
