Slave Play? Hmmm. I wonder what it could be about? The show, which played a sold out critically acclaimed production at the New York Theatre Workshop, will play a seventeen week limited engagement at the John Golden Theatre on Broadway.
Written by Jeremy O.Harris, and directed by Robert O'Hara, both of which are making their Broadway debut, will begin previews on September 10, with opening night scheduled for October 6. So what is the show all about?
Well according to the show's website, "The old South lives on at the
MacGregor Plantation—in the breeze, in the cotton fields...and in the
crack of the whip. Fear and desire entwine as three couples navigate the
complicated meaning of race, history, gender, and sexuality in
21st-century America."
