I can't tell you how excited I am by this news theater fans. Although truth be told, I actually predicted this months ago when the show was first announced. Rock of Ages, which was scheduled to ran thru October 6 at New World Stages, is now on sale thru January 12, 2020.Now I know what you are thinking. How could I be so sure that the show would extend? Well first of all, most shows that announce a limited engagement, usually end up extending anyway. Unless of course it's a show with a major star, in which case it runs anywhere from twelve to sixteen weeks.
The second reason is because the show had a huge fan base when it first opened in the same venue eleven years ago. That production if I recall was also a limited run, and ended up transferring to Broadway where it was nominated for five 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical of the Year, and played for a total of 22 previews and 2,328 performances. And third, I love the show, and if I'm being honest I want the show to last for a long, long time.
