Orchestra Or Front Mezzanine:Which Is Better

Well here it is folks. The Great Debate. Which is better? Orchestra or Mezzanine. Which place has the best view? According to some the Orchestra is the only place to sit. How many times have I heard a customer say" I only sit in the Orchestra." Well what most people don't know or often seem to forget is that in most Broadway houses 50-60% of the Orchestra is on the same level. But hey if you want to spend $180 to see the back of someones head be my guest.

I myself am a big fan of the Mezzanine. In most Broadway theatres the Mezzanine is smaller than the Orchestra. Plus it is elevated. To me that is what makes the Mezzanine better than the Orchestra. Nowadays the sets are so big. Plus being a director myself I know the importance of using the stage to it's full capacity. So you know that from the mezzanine you are going to get a great overall view of everything. Now don't get me wrong there are times when I love the Orchestra too. There is something so thrilling about being so close to the actor's. It really makes you feel like you are part of the show.

So next time you are shopping for tickets just remember that to have a good time you don't have to be "In the first ten rows" . So when it comes right down to it whether you are the first row of the Orchestra or the last row of the Mezzanine just remember that there is nothing like seeing a Broadway show. It is an experience you will never forget. See you at the theatre.
