Final Week's For Tony Winning Musical Billy Elliot

That's right theatre fans. You have less than two months to see Billy Elliot. The show which won ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical of the Year will play it's final performance on Sunday January 8, 2012. When it closes it will have played a total of a total of 40 previews and 1,304 regular performances. Now for those of you who have read my blogs know that I avoided seeing the show for almost three years into the run. In fact I was the only person in my office who still hadn't seen it. Not that I'm sure it wasn't good. A show doesn't win all those Tony Awards for nothing.

It just didn't seem like the type of show that would interest me. I had never seen the movie and quite frankly never had a desire to either. Well against my better judgement I decided to go and see it this past September. I figured if I didn't like it I could at least leave at intermission. Now I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and boy was I ever wrong about this show. I loved it. In fact I would put it in my top ten of Broadway shows that I have ever seen. I can't recommend it enough. Now of course wouldn't you know it that right after I finally saw it they announced it was closing. Oh well. You still have seven weeks to check it out. Get your tickets to see Billy Elliot on Broadway. Time is running out.
