Is it really time for the Tony Awards? O.K. I know. I know. It's still over eight months away. But trust me my friends. It will be here before you know it. It was just announced today that next years Tony Awards will be held on Sunday June 11, 2017.
Of course where they will be held is anyone's guess. Last years awards were held at the Beacon Theatre, due to the fact that it's usual home, Radio City Music Hall, was unavailable due to the New York Spectacular.
In fact during the last twenty years, the show has been at Radio City Music Hall every year, with the exception of 1999,2011, 2012, and 2016. Now I'm very old school. I think the Tony's should be like the old days and be held in a legitimate Broadway house. Unfortunately I don't think that will ever happen again. The eligibility for next years Tony's will be on April 27, with the nominations being announced on May 2. Here's to an exciting Broadway season. Until next time theatre fans.

New Play Oslo To Open On Broadway This Spring
Yesterday I posted a blog about Significant Other moving to the Great White Way, following it's critically acclaimed run Off-Broadway. Well wouldn't you know it, but another hit play is doing it too. Oslo, which enjoyed a sold out run this Summer at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre at Lincoln Center, will make it's Broadway debut in March 2017.
Thankfully they won't have too far to go, as the show is moving upstairs to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, which is also housed at Lincoln Center. The show, which is based on the real life 1993 negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders, will be begin previews on March 23, with opening night scheduled for April 13.
This political thriller by J.T. Rogers, is being directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof), and will star the original Off-Broadway cast, led by Tony winners Jennifer Ehle and Jefferson Mayes. Tickets for the show are now on sale. Not only that, but we are selling them. Get your tickets to see Oslo on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Year's Eve Broadway Schedule Announced
Is it really almost 2017? It seems like only yesterday that I was shoveling out my driveway during New York's record breaking snowstorm in January. Now here we are eight months later and Fall is finally here. That can only mean one thing. The holiday's will be here before you know it. And what better way to ring in the New Year with a Broadway show? Now while none of the shows are playing on New Year's Eve in the evening, there are sixteen shows playing on New Year's Day. Now that's what I call a great way to start the year. Until next time theatre fans.

Off-Broadway Hit Significant Other To Transfer To Broadway In February 2017
That's right theatre fans. Another critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show is making the jump to Broadway. Significant Other, which opened to rave reviews at the Laura Pels Theatre in May 2015, will begin previews at the Booth Theatre on February 14, 2017, with opening night scheduled for March 2.
So what exactly is the show about? Well I'll tell you. Significant Other tells the story of helpless romantic Jordan Berman, who spends his evenings with his like minded single female friends. However as each of his friends become engaged, he finds himself on the outside looking in, and wonders if he himself will ever find true love.
Sounds like a nice addition to this year's Broadway season don't you think? Tickets for the show are now on sale. Better yet, we are selling them. Get your tickets to see Significant Other on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical In Transit To Open On Broadway This Fall
A couple of days ago I wrote a blog about the upcoming production of Frozen, which is scheduled to open on Broadway in 2018. Now I know what you're thinking. What does Frozen have to do with In Transit? Well for starters it is being written by Kristen-Anderson Lopez, who along with husband Robert Lopez composed the score for Frozen.
Actually that's the only thing it has in common with the show. But I digress. In Transit, which hold on to your hat's, features an a cappella score, will begin previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre on November 10, with opening night scheduled for December 11. Now besides being sans instruments, the show takes place in the greatest city in the world.
Care to guess which one I am talking about? I'll give you a hint. It's nickname is the "Big Apple". That's right. I'm talking about New York City. Oh and one more thing. It takes place on the subway. Hence why the show is called In Transit. Tickets for the show for In Transit are now on sale. Oh but wait. It get's better.
Beginning on November 10 thru February 26, you can get tickets to see the show at some amazing prices. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru February 27. 2017, it is for select seats and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see In Transit on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Until next theatre fans.

New Creative Team Announced For Disney's Frozen
Big news theatre fans. Disney's Frozen has found it's new director. According to Michael Riedel of the New York Post, the show is now being helmed by Tony Award winning director Michael Grandage (Red, Evita).
He replaces the previously announced Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Rocky), who was let go over the Summer. The show, which is based on the award winning film is set to make it's Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre in 2018.
Now while I may not be the biggest Disney fan in the world, I have no doubt that Frozen will do very well at the box office. Here's hoping the show is more along the lines of The Lion King as opposed to The Little Mermaid or Tarzan. Stay tuned to this blog for future updates about the show. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Award Winning Play The Humans To Close
Sad news theatre fans. One of last season's most celebrated plays is saying goodbye. The good news is that you still have three months to see it. The Humans, which won four 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Play of the Year, will play it's final performance at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on January 15, 2017. Now while the show may be closing on that date it is still possible that it could continue at another theatre.
If it does it will be it's forth venue since it premiered Off-Broadway last September. Here's hoping the show continues. It is fantastic. By the way for those of you who want tickets to the show, you are in luck. We sell it. Not only that but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. A few months ago I posted a blog about the upcoming production of Anastasia. The show which is based on the 1997 film, will begin previews on March 23, 2017 at the Broadhurst Theatre, with opening night scheduled for April 24. Now believe it or not but I have never seen the movie. Well not the animated one.
I did however see Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna, which starred Olivia de Havilland, Omar Sharif, and a young Christian Bale in his film debut. It was amazing. But enough about the movie. You came here to find out how to get tickets to see it. So let's get to it shall we. Tickets for the new musical are now on sale.
Not only that, but we sell them. Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts at Applause will do the rest. It's as simple as that. Get your tickets to see Anastasia on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Get Tickets To See The Color Purple On Broadway With Applause Theatre Service
Still haven't seen The Color Purple yet? Well what are you waiting for people? There is no better time than the present. The show, which won this year's Tony Award for Best Musical Revival of the Year, is one of the finest shows playing on Broadway today. Now I saw the original production back in 2005.
Having never read the book, or seen the movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well by the end of the evening I was a fan. Therefore when they announced that the show was coming back after less than nine years I was a little skeptical to say the least. I mean how could they possibly top what I had seen back in 2005?
Then I heard that Tony winner John Doyle was directing the show and my doubts began to subside. Not only was he the perfect choice for the show, but the actor's he assembled were even better than the original cast. Trust me. That was not an easy task. The show, which is headlined by Tony winner's Cynthia Erivo, Heather Headley, and Tony nominee Danielle Brooks, is one show you do not want to miss.
But wait. It get's better. Beginning on October 4, Tony winner and Broadway diva Jennifer Holliday joins the show in the role of Shug Avery. Oh but wait. It get's even better. You remember how I mentioned that now was the best time to see The Color Purple? Well it is theatre fans. From now thru October 30 you can get tickets to see this award winning show at prices that can't be beat. Just give us a call and ask for The Color Purple "Insider Price" and we will take care of the rest. It's as simple as that. Get your tickets to see The Color Purple on Broadway at the Bernard B. Something Rotten
January 1, 2017
Now I loved Something Rotten. To me it was one of the funniest shows that I have seen in a long time. In fact when ever I have friends visiting New York, Something Rotten is my go to show for them to see. Oh well. Nothing last's forever right? I guess I'll have to pick something else for them to see. Thankfully between now and next April there are eight new musicals scheduled to open.
By the way for those of you who want to see Something Rotten you are in luck. We sell it. In fact if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at some incredible rates. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thro October 30, it is for select seats, and as always subject to availability. That is a lot of cities my friends. I only wish one of those stops included New York City. Oh well. It's only been eight years since the Broadway production closed. I'm sure Rent will return one of these days. By the way for those of you who want tickets to see Rent you are in luck. We sell it. Get your tickets to see Rent on tour at a city near you. Get Tickets To See Charlie And The Chocolate Factory On Broadway
Want tickets to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Well have I got good news for you. They are now on sale. Oh and did I mention that we will be selling them? Well of course we do. In fact we sell tickets to every new musical and play this season. Growing up as a child Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was one of my favorite books. I didn't think it could get any better than that.
Then the movie came out and I thought I was in heaven. Cut to thirty-five years later and the story that I have loved since I was seven years old is finally coming to Broadway as a musical. And here I thought it couldn't get any better. Previews for the show are scheduled to begin at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 28, 2017, with opening night set for April 23.
Leading the cast as Willie Wonka is two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle. Who by the way will be pulling double duty this season as he is also playing the role of Marvin in the first Broadway revival of Falsettos. Can you just imagine if he was nominated for both roles? Not only would that be a first, but it would also make next year's Tony Awards very interesting my friends.
Now besides featuring two of the films most famous song's,"The Candy Man", and "Pure Imagination", the show will also include nineteen new songs written by Tony winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash). Not only that but the show is being directed by Tony winner Jack O'Brien, with choreography by Emmy winner and Tony nominee Josh Bergasse (On The Town, Gigi). Now can you see why I am so excited? Get your tickets to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Who knows? You might just see me there. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Come From Away To Open On Broadway Next Year
Can it be true? Another new musical announcing that they are coming to Broadway next year? It's true my friends. Come From Away, which opened on September 2 in Washington D.C, at the Ford's Theatre, will open on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on February 18, 2017, with opening night scheduled for Match 12.
Prior to it's Broadway engagement, Come From Away will play a limited run from November 25-January 8, at the Royal Alexandria Theatre in Toronto. The show, which features an original score by husband and wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein, will be directed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Ashley. So what exactly is the show about? To be honest when they first announced the show, it reminded me of the show Come Fly Away which featured music by Frank Sinatra. The show, despite warm reviews, closed a little after six months and lost it's entire investment.
But enough about that show. Come From Away takes place in Newfoundland, a rural town in Canada, shortly after the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Within hours of this terrible tragedy thirty-eight planes, carrying a total of 6,579 passengers are left stranded, turning this remote little village upside down. Tickets for the show are set to go on sale on October 24. Not only that but we will be selling them. Get your tickets to see Come From Away at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Groundhog Day To Transfer To Broadway Next Spring
That's right theatre fans. Groundhog Day is coming to the Great White Way. The show, which opened to rave reviews in London this past Summer, will begin previews at the August Wilson Theatre in March 2017, with opening night scheduled for April 17, 2017. Now Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies of all time.
So you can imagine how excited I was when they announced that they were turning it into a musical. Not only that, but it is being written and directed by the same team from Matilda. Now do you see why I am so excited? Now for those of you that are not familiar with the movie, here is a brief synopsis to get you up to speed. Enjoy!
Set in the secluded little town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Groundhog Day tells the story of skeptic and Pittsburgh T.V. weatherman Phil Connors (Tony nominee Andy Karl), who is sent to cover the annual Groundhog Day. Suddenly, he finds himself caught in a never ending time loop, where he is forced to repeat the same day again and again, causing him to question his life choices and his future.
Sounds like a Tony Award contender to me. Here's hoping the New York critic's enjoy the show as much as their counterparts from across the pond. Tickets for the show are scheduled to go on sale on October 26. Oh and it gets better. We will be selling tickets to the show. Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts will take care of the rest. Get your tickets to see Groundhog Day at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Dear Evan Hansen Finds New Home
What's that? Wasn't it already announced that Dear Evan Hansen was opening at the Belasco Theatre? Yes it was. In fact it was announced just a few months ago, that the critically acclaimed new musical would be making it's Broadway debut this Fall. Well that hasn't changed.
The only thing that has changed is it's venue. Dear Evan Hansen, which premiered Off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theatre, will begin previews at the Music Box Theatre, with opening night scheduled for December 4. By the way for those of you who want tickets to see the show you are in luck. We sell it.
In fact we sell every show both On and Off-Broadway. Also for those of you who want more info on Dear Evan Hansen I have attached a recent blog about the show that will hopefully give you a little more insight into this amazing show. Get your tickets to see Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre. Expect the show to be a big contender at next year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.
