That's right theatre fans. Another new musical is heading to the Great White way this season. By the way, that makes a total of eleven shows that have will be premiering on Broadway during the 2016-17 season. Now today's blog is to tell you about a new show that is coming to Broadway in the coming months. It's title? Bandstand. I know what you're thinking. Who's are the going to get to play Dick Clark in this brand new show? Not so fast my friends. The show, which stars two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Cinderella) and Corey Cott (Newsies, Gigi), and is being directed by Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In The Heights), is set to begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on March 31, 2017, with opening night scheduled for April 26.
Set in the "Big Band" era during World War II, Bandstand tells the story of struggling singer-songwriter Donny Novitski and his fellow army buddies. When a national radio station sponsors a contest to find the next big sensation, Donny and his buddies team up with singer and war widow hoping that a win will change all of their lives. Now that sounds pretty interesting don't you think? Tickets for the show are not yet on sale. However you can guarantee that when they do, we will be selling them.
