I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to see this show. As I have mentioned in several of my previous blogs, I grew up in a small farm town in Illinois. Therefore I didn't have a lot of exposure to Broadway, except for the shows I performed in at my local community theatre, as well as my high school productions. Although I did travel to Chicago during my junior year to see The Phantom of the Opera. Shortly after seeing that production, my friend turned me on to a new show called Miss Saigon, which was taking London by storm.
Truth be told I was not expecting too much, as I was, and have never been a big fan of Les Miserables, which as you know was also written by the same composers as Miss Saigon. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. In fact I practically listened to the cast recording almost every day for the next few weeks. Scratch that. Months. I guess I was a little obsessed with it. Cut to over two years later and I finally got the chance to see it on Broadway.
Was I still blown away? You better believe it. In fact over the next few years, I saw the show over a half a dozen times. I even got the chance to see it again when Lea Salonga reprised her Tony Award winning performance as Kim. Now here we are over twenty-five years since it's Broadway debut, and the show is returning again in a brand new production. Not too mention, it's playing at it's original home, the Broadway Theatre. It just get's better and better. Tickets for the show are now on sale. Not only that, but we are selling them. Get your tickets to see Miss Saigon on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre. I can't wait. Until next time theatre fans.
