Exciting news theatre fans. And here I thought Wayne Brady starring in Hamilton was big news. It was just announced, that Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart, is joining the Broadway production of Hamilton, in the roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Iglehart, who won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of the Genie in Aladdin, is scheduled to begin performances on February 21. His final performance as the Genie is scheduled for February 19. Sounds like somebody will be doing double duty for a while.
Now I know what you're thinking. Can he rap? Well believe it or not, but the award winning actor is actually a member of Freestyle Love Supreme, which is case you didn't know, was founded by fellow Tony winner, and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. I'm thinking he'll be just fine. Until next time theatre fans.
