Pulitzer Prize And Tony Award Winner Neil Simon Passes Away

Neil SimonOne of the first plays I ever read, was Neil Simon's I Ought To Be In Pictures. I must have read it about a half a dozen times in high school. Following graduation, I moved to New York City to pursue my dream of being an actor.

And wouldn't you know it but on my second day here, I saw my very first Broadway show. Care to guess what it was? Why none other than Lost In Yonkers, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner for Best Play of the Year.

What a perfect way to start my new life in the Big Apple. Since that time, I must have seen or read over a dozen of Neil Simon's plays and musicals, including the revival of The Odd Couple starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and Little Me starring Martin Short in his Tony Award winning performance.

Neil Simon has been a part of my life for almost thirty years, and I have no doubt that his work will continue to entertain theatergoers around the world for years to come. It was also announced yesterday that on Wednesday, all of the Broadway theatre marquees will dim for one minute beginning at 6:45pm. Mr. Simon, you will be missed.
