Academy Award Winner Marisa Tomei To Return To Broadway In The Rose Tattoo

RoseTattoo.JPGWhat's that? A show by one of my favorite playwrights, starring one of my favorite actors, and it's headed to Broadway? I must be dreaming. The Rose Tattoo, written by Tennessee Williams, is set to return to Broadway this Fall at the American Airlines Theatre.

Starring Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei, and directed by Trip Cullman, the show is scheduled to begin previews on September 19 with opening night to be announced at a later date.

Now I'll admit that while I am a huge Tennessee Williams fan, I am less familiar with The Rose Tattoo than I am with some of his earlier work. I guess that's why I am so excited to see it. All I can tell you is that the play won the 1951 Tony Award for Best Play of the Year. Well that's enough for me.

O.K. I guess I can tell you a little bit more about the show. Set in Mississippi, The Rose Tattoo tells the story of Serafina Delle Rose, an Italian-American widow, who after the death of her husband withdraws from not only her family, but the world around her. Now do you want to see it? Get your tickets to see The Rose Tattoo on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
