One of my favorite theatrical experiences of all time was seeing the
Broadway production of August:Osage County. The show, which premiered at
the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago in 2007, would go on to win the
Pulitzer Prize for Drama, as well as the Tony Award for Best Play of the
Year. Now here we are twelve years later, and playwright Tracy Letts is
headed back to Broadway in a brand new play.
Linda Vista, which
premiered at the Steppenwolf Thetare in March 2017, is set to begin
previews at the Hayes Theatre on September 19, and play thru November 10. So what is the show about? Well according to the shows
website, Linda Vista tells the story of fifty year old Wheeler. His
marriage is over, his job is mundane, and the best
years of his life appear to be behind him.
A move from the cot in his
ex-wife’s garage to his own apartment opens up new possibilities for
love and sex—complicated, painful and hilarious. Full of opinions, yet
short on self-examination, Wheeler must reconcile the man he has become
with the man he wants to be. Well I'm sold. As of now no on sale date
has been announced. Be sure to check this website for further updates.
