I'm really excited about a brand new musical called A Bronx Tale, which will begin preview performances at New York's Longacre Theatre on November 3, 2016. Opening night is set for December 1, 2016 as of this writing.
A Bronx Tale was originally a one-man show written and starring veteran film star Chaz Palminteri. After the one-man show, A Bronx Tale became a very successful film which starred Robert De Niro, Chaz Palminteri, Joe Pesci and Lillo Brancato Jr. (who played the youngster).
A Bronx Tale takes place in the 1960's against a backdrop of racial times and tells the story of an Italian-American teenager who gets caught up being interested in getting involved with the local "mob" while being torn wanting to do the right thing for his dad, a local bus driver. The young man starts to envision himself as an aspiring mob boss one day.
A Bronx Tale recently played from February 4 through March 6, 2016 at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey and was very well received by theatre critics. I can't imagine that this show won't do very well on Broadway seeing as how it's been a successful film and popular out-of-town stage production. Especially when we consider the incredible creative team assembled. They include a very solid book written by Mr. Palminteri, music and lyrics collaboration by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, direction by longtime Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks and Robert De Niro and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
The musical score is the "Doo Wop" sound. Something that will be unique for Broadway these days.
I'm thinking that there will be a rush to buy A Bronx Tale tickets as soon as word gets out that tickets have been officially on sale to the public for several days now. If you're excited to see A Bronx Tale for one of the preview performances, or after opening night, you may want to consider calling our team of local Broadway experts at Applause-Tickets. We work 24/7 these days to assist theatergoers all around the world that are headed to see one of the fabulous Broadway Shows lighting up The Great White Way in the 2016-2017 season.
Cheers and best wishes to the creative team and cast for A Bronx Tale, coming to the Longacre Theatre in New York City this November. I hope you enjoyed this article from Applause Ticket News.
