Jersey Boys is one of those musicals on Broadway that comes along maybe once in ten years or so that has everybody talking. I remember seeing the show in previews back in October 2005. There were several times during the show when our party of four wanted to join the cast up on stage and start dancing along to so many of the great songs that Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons made famous. The Jersey Boys was the Best Musical Tony Award winner of 2006 and sells out every performance in New York City.
The story tracks the lives and careers of Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, blue collar kids who often found themselves on the wrong side of the law in New Jersey. Instead of continuing to get into trouble with the local authorities, the boys decide to write their own songs and try to establish themselves in the music industry as recording artists. They created their very own unique sound and wrote their own music as well. Some of their most popular hit songs are "Sherry", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "Dawn".
The New York production stars Michael Longoria, Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard and J. Robert Spencer. Tickets are on sale throughout 2008 but seats are selling very fast, so don't wait.
Although tickets are hard to come by, you can call Applause Theatre Service in New York City 7 days a week at 212-307-7050 or 1-800-451-9930.
