That's right theatre fans. Cinderella is now on Broadway. However this isn't the Disney version. For those of you that aren't familiar with it this new production is based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein version that first premiered in 1957 starring Julie Andrews. That of course was on television. Two more small screen versions would follow over the years but this will mark the productions first time on the Great White Way.
Now I have always been a big fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein. I mean who doesn't love The Sound of Music or The King and I? Or such classics like Oklahoma or Carousel? They are musical theatre legends. Now how this production will fare is any ones guess. I can tell you that it has been selling very well during it's preview period. In fact just last week the show grossed over a million dollars at the box office. Not bad for a show that has never been on Broadway.
The show which began previews earlier this month at the Broadway Theatre will officially open this Sunday. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets for Cinderella you have come to the right place. Good seats are now available for most performances. Not only that but at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Insider Deal" is good thru April 20 it is not good for Saturday and Sunday matinees and like always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Cinderella on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.
