Tickets Now On Sale For Orphans Starring Emmy Winner Alec Baldwin

That's right theatre fans. 30 Rock's Emmy winner star Alec Baldwin is set to return to the Great White Way in a new revival if Orphans. Joining him are Tom Sturridge and film star Shia LaBeouf. Wait a minute. Not so fast. It was just announced today that Mr. LaBeouf has departed the production "due to creative differences." Regardless previews are still scheduled to begin on March 19 with opening night set for April 7.

The show which first opened in Los Angeles in 1983 later played an acclaimed engagement in Chicago before moving to New York where it had a successful run Off-Broadway at the Westside Arts Theatre. This new production directed by Tony winner Daniel Sullivan will be it's first time on Broadway. Here is a brief synopsis of the show from it's official website.

Two orphaned brothers are living in a decrepit North Philadelphia row house. Treat, the eldest, supports his damaged younger sibling Phillip (Sturridge) by petty thievery, and makes the house a virtual prison for the seemingly simple-minded Phillip. One night he kidnaps a rich older man, Harold (Baldwin), who turns out to have his own motives and becomes the father figure the boys have always yearned for.

As I mentioned tickets for this show went on sale earlier this week and I can only imagine how future sales will be affected by Mr. LaBeouf's departure. We will soon find out.As of now the show is scheduled to run thru June 30. Get your tickets to see Orphans on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.
