That's right theatre fans. Or should I say football fans at this point. Lombardi, which is based on football legend and former Green Bay Packer's coach Vince Lomabardi recently announced that the critically acclaimed drama has opened up a new block of seats thru June 19,2011. Now while I personally have not seen the show I have only heard good things about it. The show which opened at the Circle In The Square Theatre on October 21 stars Dan Laurie (TV's The Wonder Years) as Vince and Judith Light (Who's The Boss, Ugly Betty) as his loving and supportive wife Marie. Now while the show was praised by both critics and audiences alike it was not a hit at first.
However with football season in swing and the backing of the NFL the show looks to be around for awhile. That's great news as there are in the last few years there have been very few plays on Broadway by American playwrights. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good Tom Stoppard or Eugene O'Neill play everyone in a while. I just wish we had more plays like August:Osage County and Time Stands Still. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen Lombardi yet you have come to the right place. From now thru February 20 you can get tickets to see Lombardi for below face value. Plus the fact that the show is performed in the round mean that there is not a bad seat in the house. Good seats are still available so call now.
