January 1998. That believe it or not, is when I started my first job selling tickets here in New York. Since that time I have worked for several different ticket companies, including the last eleven years at Applause. That is seventeen years in the same industry for those of you keeping count. Now while my position may have changed over the years, I still love talking about theatre and assisting customers with all of their ticket needs. Good thing right? So what does this have to do with today's blog you ask? Well the truth is, that in the last few years or so, I have noticed an increase in new companies selling tickets. Mostly Broadway, but there are a few that are selling local sporting events as well.
Now while Applause offers the same services as those other companies, we are a little different. How so you ask? Well for one we have an office in the heart of Times Square that you can visit. Plus not only do we sell tickets, but we can also give you restaurant suggestions, as well as other things to see and do while you are here. How many other companies do you know that do that? Not too many my friends. Oh and did I mention that most of the shows we sell are available at "Insider Prices." Look we all know that the cost of taking a whole family to a show in New York can be expensive. It's even expensive for just one person.
The good news is there are ways to see theatre affordably. You just have to know where to look. Like I said new ticket companies are popping up every day. In fact just the other afternoon as I was walking thru the Theatre District there was a new one. Now whether you use us or someone else is irrelevant. Oh sure I would be lying if I didn't say I wanted your business. Without our customers we wouldn't be open. However the most important thing to remember is to take your time. Shop around. Then choose the company that works best for you. It's your money after all. Until next time ticket shoppers.
