Allison Janney Stars In Six Degrees Of Seperation On Broadway- Previews Begin April 5, 2017

In a few weeks, Allison Janney, one of my favorite actresses, will co-star in the revival of the very funny comedy Six Degrees Of Separation.  Preview performances will start on April 5, 2017 at New York's Barrymore Theatre in midtown with opening night scheduled for April 25, 2017.  The show will be eligible for Tony Award nominations in the BEST REVIVAL OF A PLAY category as well as several others.

Six Degrees Of Separation  was the winner of the 1991 New York Drama Critic's Circle Award as well as having won London's 1993 Olivier Award in the BEST NEW PLAY category.  It was also nominated for a Tony Award in 1991.  In addition, the show was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1991, in the drama category.

Six Degrees Of Separation was inspired by a true story.  The show tells the very interesting story of a mysterious young con artist who somehow manages to get involved with a well to do New York couple and their daily lives.  His claim is that he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier.  Soon thereafter, the couple begin to sort through events and connections that were responsible for bringing the young man into their lives.

Joining Ms. Janney on the stage in this version of Six Degrees Of Separation will be John Benjamin Hickey.  Mr. Hickey won the Tony Award for BEST ACTOR in The Normal Heart some years ago and also appeared on Broadway in Cabaret, The Crucible, Mary Stuart and Love! Valour! Compassion!  He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in The Big C and also had roles in Manhattan and Pitch Perfect.  Corey Hawkins was recently seen in the film Straight Outta Compton. Other credits include The Walking Dead, Non-Stop, Kong: Skull Island and the popular show 24:Legacy.  He originally made is Broadway debut playing the role of Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet.

Allison Janney has many acting accolades which include a long run in the incredibly popular television series The West Wing.  Other credits include Masters Of Sex and most recently appearing in Mom.  Her Broadway credits include 9 To 5 and A View From The Bridge.  Although she has been featured in many films, standout roles were in American Beauty, Hairspray and Juno.
