That's right theatre fans. Time to celebrate another show opening on the Great White Way. Last night, Girl From the North Country, officially opened at the Belasco Theatre. Featuring book and direction by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Conor McPherson, Girl From The North Country takes place in Duluth, Minnesota during the height of the Great Depression, and tells the tale of the Laine family, owners of the local guesthouse, who's future is being threatened with foreclosure by the bank.
The show, which also played a sold out run at the Public Theatre in 2018, as well as a critically acclaimed run in London, star's Tony Award nominees Marc Kudisch, David Pittu, and Mare Winningham, along side Todd Almond, Jeannette Bayardelle, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Tom Nelis, Colton Ryan, John Schiappa, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Rachel Stern, and Chelsea Lee Williams. I saw the show a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely loved it. But enough about what I think. What did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.
