Here we are two months into the year and I can’t tell you how excited am for the rest of this season’s shows. First is the highly anticipated musical Cry-Baby. This show is based on the popular John Water’s movie. Fresh from a sold out run in Seattle Cry-Baby begins previews in March.

My new favorite show of the season so far is Passing Strange. This highly original and fun new musical features music by popular singer/songwriter and Broadway newcomer Stew. Passing Strange is a moving and hilarious tale of a young, black bohemian on a journey of escape and exploration. I loved it.

Good news for all you Gypsy fans out there. This landmark musical hailed by many as the best musical ever written returns to the Broadway stage this spring staring Tony Winner and Broadway Diva Patti Lupone.

Another show I am looking forward to this season is A Catered Affair . This new musical based on the motion picture is poised to be the dark horse in this year’s Tony race for Best Musical. With music by Broadway newcomer John Bucchino and book by Harvey Fierstein this enchanting story is about a Bronx couple who must choose whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair.
