A Bloody good Macbeth is now playing a limited run on Broadway!

Macbeth; With his unmistakably distinguished voice and image-defining shaved head, film and television star Patrick Stewart, beloved by millions as Captain Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek: The Next Generation, returns to Broadway as the murderous monarch Macbeth.

One of the Bard's most produced plays, this new Stalinist-meets-The Matrix production arrives at the Lyceum Theatre after sold-out engagements on London's West End and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with its (mostly) British cast intact.

Did I and my theatre going friends and colleagues find this telling of the infamous King of Scotland and his power hungry Lady M bloody good or not?

Well it the straight answer is YES! We were fortunate enough to attend the starry opening night of the show (Kathleen Turner, Peter Strausse, Roger Rees were there to name a few) and we found this production to be outstanding with a stellar cast! It moved very well and the direction was spot on. It's a very intense production with great sound and visual effects. Even if you have trouble with Shakespeare, fear not, I do as well and had no trouble knowing exactly what was taking place on stage. There's music and laughter as well in this dark, bloody production. It's an extremely limited run that will play only about another 50 or so performances.
