NEW 'SOUTH PACIFIC' FINDS TREASURE AT BOX OFFICE! APPLAUSE THEATRE SERVICE HAS YOUR TICKETS!

Lincoln Center Theater presents the iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "South Pacific" which has returned to the New York scene in its first-ever Broadway revival. I never knew the original South Pacific but I grew up watching and loving the movie! This 60 year old revival is breathtakingly beautiful and poignant even for today! The music takes your breath away. The serious undertones of the plot are perfectly interspersed with an outstanding performance by the shows funny man, and there are moments where you can't help but shout out in joy! Truly one of the best theater experiences I have had in years!
But there's no denying that "South Pacific" - which opened last week to valentines from the critics - is the hit of the spring season, eclipsing, at least at the box office, its gold-plated rival, "Gypsy",
Bernard Gersten, executive producer of Lincoln Center Theater, says "South Pacific" is "the strongest revival we've ever done. It's stronger than 'Carousel,' which ran 60-odd weeks, and even stronger than 'Anything Goes,' which was a big hit for us."

Ben Brantley, New York Times says;
"this “South Pacific” recreates the unabashed, unquestioning romance that American theatergoers had with the American book musical in the mid-20th century...Yet the show feels too vital to be a museum piece, too sensually fluid to be square."
