Tickets went on sale today for this years Winter season at the New York City Ballet at the David H. Koch Theatre(formerly the New York State Theatre)According to a press release," The 2009 Winter Season features some of the Company’s most spectacular works.George Balanchine’s breathtaking Vienna Waltzes, Jerome Robbins’ immortal West Side Story Suite, and the charming full-length CoppĂ©lia, which tells the tale of a mad inventor and the life-like doll he creates.

NYCB will also present three not-to-be-missed world premieres, each certain to be major dance events, as well as encore performances of Alexei Ratmansky’s critically-acclaimed Concerto DSCH, listed on New York Magazine’s “The Approval Matrix” as: “the best new ballet in a long, long time.”

Contemporary masterpieces returning to the stage include a major revival of Angelin Preljocaj’s avant garde La Stravaganza, Christopher Wheeldon’s kaleidoscopic Mercurial Manoeuvres, and Jorma Elo’s pyrotechnic Slice to Sharp. The winter repertory will also feature Peter Martins’ Papillons, not seen since its premiere in 1994, and our monumental new staging of Les Noces, with four grand pianos and a full choir onstage."
