Final Weeks To See 9 to 5 On Broadway

I don't care what the critics say. I really enjoyed 9 to 5 The Musical. Now yes it can be silly at times and the dancing while energetic felt a little stiff I had a good time the night I saw it. After all isn't that what theater is all about? The show which opened to mixed reviews is set to close on Labor Day weekend. Did it deserve to have a longer run? That's not for me to decide. That is up to the producer. Although it's Broadway run was cut short there are plans to send the show on tour next year where I think it will probably do much better. It's got a catchy score and if they can tighten it up a little and trim a little here and there then it might just succeed. Let's face facts. Not every show can be a blockbuster like Wicked or Billy Elliot. Shows like that don't come around very often. In a different season 9 to 5 might have run but in this day and age when tickets cost $130 a pop you better make sure your show is worth it. Hopefully this won't stop Dolly Parton from coming back to Broadway in the future. She really does have a distinct voice and she deserves another shot at the big time.
