Broadway Revival of You Can't Take It With You Starring Tony Winner James Earl Jones To Open This Fall

What a great way to start the 2014-2015 Broadway season don't you think? Yes I know technically Holler If You Hear Me is the first show to open this season but unlike that one I am actually looking forward to seeing You Can't Take It With You. And this is coming from a huge Tupac Shakur fan mind you. The show which first premiered on Broadway in 1936 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama is set to begin previews at the Longacre Theatre on August 26 with opening night set for September 28. Not only that but the show will star two-time Tony Award winner James Earl Jones and will be directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis.

I first saw the show back in 1985 when my local high school presented the show. They only did three performances and believe it or not but I saw it twice that weekend. Who would have thought that an almost fifty year old show would have kept the interest of a twelve year old boy? Trust me. I was shocked too. Now hear we are almost thirty years later and I am thrilled that one of my favorite plays of all time is returning to the Great White Way. For those of you that are not familiar with the show here is a brief synopsis of You Can't Take It With You. Enjoy!

Family can do crazy things to people. And the Sycamore family is a little crazy to begin with. James Earl Jones heads the wackiest household to ever hit Broadway in Kaufman and Hart's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic You Can't Take It With You. He plays wily Grandpa Vanderhof, leader of a happily eccentric gang of snake collectors, cunning revolutionaries, ballet dancers and skyrocket makers. But when the youngest daughter brings her fiancee and his buttoned-up parents over for dinner, that's when the real fireworks start to fly.

See? I told you it's a great play and that is just from the synopsis. Tickets for this beloved comedy actually went on sale today and I have no doubt that tickets sales should be very good. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see the show you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell this show but every show both On and Off Broadway. Get your tickets to see You Can't Take It With You on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre. Expect the show to be a major highlight of the upcoming Fall Broadway season. Until next time theatre fans.
