What's that you say? A play opening on Broadway in the Fall that is not a revival? What will they think of next? Disgraced, a new play by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Ayad Akhtar will begin preview will begin previews at the Lyceum Theatre on September 27 with opening night scheduled for October 23. Now while I do love revivals I am even more excited when a new play is opening on Broadway.
Not only that but the show is starring Josh Radnor who for all you television fans know was Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. Which by the way is one of my favorite shows of all time. Now while he is known for his comedic skills he is quite a good dramatic actor as well which is good because based on what I have read so far about Disgraced it is definitely not a comedy. Now for those of you who would like more info about the show here is a synopsis of Disgraced from the show's website. Enjoy!
Disgraced is the story of a successful Muslim-American lawyer and his wife -- an artist influenced by Islamic imagery -- enjoying their comfortable and successful life on New York's Upper East Side. When a co-worker and her husband come to dinner, what begins as polite table conversation explodes, leaving everyone's relationships and beliefs about race and identity in shards.
Like I said. Not so much a comedy. Although there might be a few laughs here and there I'm guessing. We shall see. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see Disgraced you are in luck. We sell it. Well that and every other show both On and Off Broadway. Get your tickets to see Disgraced at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. I know I can't wait to see it. How about you? Until next time theatre fans.
