The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time To Open On Broadway This Fall

Well would you look at that? Another hit show from across the pond heading to Broadway. Last year was Matilda. Thhis year Broadway will welcome one of London's most successful plays in the last few years. The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time which first premiered in the West End on August 2012 is based on the 2003 novel of the same name. This new production will mark the fifteenth show to transfer from the National Theatre in the past two decades.

Now while I did not see them all I did have the pleasure of seeing their Tony Award winning production of The History Boys which opened in 2006. Let's hope this one is just as good. The show is scheduled to begin performances at the Barrymore Theatre on September 10 with opening night set for October 5. As of now the show is open ended with tickets on sale thru March 29 with tickets set to go on sale on July 28. Now for those of you like me who want more info about the show here is a brief synopsis of the play. Enjoy!

Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs Shears' dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

Sounds like a laugh out loud night in the theatre now doesn't it? I'm kidding of course. As I mentioned tickets are set to go on sale on July 28 and I fully expect the show to be a hot ticket with theatregoers old and young alike. Get your tickets to see The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Expect the show to be a big contender at next year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.
