Although many theater insiders mostly focus on the upcoming Tony Award nominations for the current Broadway Theatre season, we are pleased to share with you a first look at this years Outer Critics Circle nominations. The 66th annual Outer Critics Circle nominations are voted on by an organization of journalists that cover the Broadway and Off Broadway Theater in New York City. The nominations were announced on Tuesday April 19, 2016. And the awards will be announced on Monday May 9, 2016.
Interesting to note is that American Psycho and She Loves Me received the most nominations (8 each), Bright Star and On Your Feet (7 nominations each), and Eclipsed and Long Day's Journey Into Night each received 5 nominations. This years "off the charts" hit Broadway show Hamilton was not included in these nominations as it won several Outer Critics Circle Awards in 2015 when it played at New York's Public Theater Off Broadway.
