One of this past season's most honored and critically acclaimed shows is Fela. This new musical which tells the life story of activist and musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti received eleven 2010 Tony nominations including Best Musical. The show which first premiered Off-Broadway in 2008 is directed and choreographed by Tony winner Bill T. Jones who received a Tony Award for Best Choreography for his work in the show.
Besides having some high profile producers in Jay-Z and Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith the show has proven to be a big seller at the box office since it opened last year. Now that doesn't mean you can't get tickets. In fact right now is the best time to get this award winning musical. She replaces Tony winner Lillias White who is leaving the show to perform in a series of concerts in Australia. The exact dates of Miss Labelle's engagement is to be announced shortly.
