Now it's interesting but in all the years that I have lived here I have never been to Tavern on the Green. Yes I know it's been closed for almost five years but even before that I never had a desire or frankly the money to ever try it. Plus I figured it was going to be around forever so I knew that eventually I would get around to checking it out. Well here we are today and Tavern on the Green is back. In fact it just reopened last night. Now while some things may have changed including the owners it looks like one of New York's famous restaurants is here to stay. Not only that but the prices don't look as bad as I was expecting. Earlier today I read an article about the opening on one of my favorite sites which not only included pictures of the restaurant but also the opening night menu as well. Now I don't know about you but all this talk of food is making me hungry. I think it's time for a little snack. Who knows? Maybe I'll have to make my way over to Central Park and see what everybody is talking about. Until next time foodies.

Cabaret Reviews
Well that's it theatre fans. With the opening last night of the Broadway revival of Cabaret the 2013-2014 Broadway season has officially come to a close. Now as I have stated in my previous blogs the last revival of Cabaret was a personal favorite of mine. Not too mention the fact that I got to hang out at Studio 54 during my three years that I worked in the Box Office. Well that and also hang out with the cast on many occasions as well. I guess working in this industry does have it's advantages. But enough about me. You came here to find out what the critic's had to say so let's get to it. Enjoy!

Broadway Revival Of Cabaret To Open Tonight On Broadway
That's right theatre fans. Cabaret is back on Broadway where it belongs. Seeing the last Broadway revival still remains one of my favorite theatrical experiences of all time. Plus having worked at the theatre's box office I must have seen the show a dozen or more times. Good thing I liked it right? Now following a ten year hiatus the show is back. In fact they just announced today that a new block of seats just went on sale thru January 5, 2015. By the way the last production which was only scheduled to run for six months ended up lasting six years. Will lighting strike twice? We will soon find out. Be sure to check back tomorrow morning when I will post the reviews. Until next time theatre fans.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch Reviews
That's right theatre fans. Last night marked the official Broadway debut of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Not only is the show a personal favorite of mine but so is it's star Neil Patrick Harris. The show which first premiered Off-Broadway in 1998 is a must see. That is if you can get a ticket of course. Now don't worry. Tickets are available. You just have to know where to look. Luckily for you we sell them. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

The Cripple of Inishmaan Reviews
That's right theatre fans. Last night marked Daniel Radcliffe's third time on the Great White Way. The Cripple of Inishmaan, which opened last night at the Cort Theatre first premiered Off-Broadway back in 1998. This new production which marks it's first time on Broadway is based on the recent sold out London production which also starred Mr. Radcliffe. Will this role finally garner him a Tony nomination? I think most people, myself included were surprised that he wasn't nominated for at least one of his previous roles. Who knows? Maybe the third time will be a charm. We shall see. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

Violet Reviews
That's right theatre fans. It's Monday morning and you know what that means don't you? No it's not another customer story. A new show opened last night. Actually two shows opened last night. Violet and The Cripple of Inishmaan. Now don't worry. I'll be sure to post the reviews for that one too. One show at a time. Violet, which stars two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster and first premiered Off-Broadway in 1997 is scheduled to play at the American Airlines Theatre thru August 10. Although if this morning's reviews are any indication I would not be surprised if it extends. We shall see. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

Jersey Boys Movie Trailer
That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most popular shows is headed to the big screen. Jersey Boys which won the Tony Award for Best Musical is set to open nationwide on June 20. Now I'll be honest when the show first opened I was intrigued but never got around to seeing it. Too much hype as far as I was concerned. Cut to two years later I was offered a ticket so I decided to give in and check it out. Of course the fact that the ticket was free certainly helped. Well imagine my surprise when I ended up loving it. In fact I would probably put the show in my "Top 15" Broadway shows of all time. I guess you could say I liked it.
Now for those of you who still haven't seen it you are in luck. We sell the show. Not only that but if you call right now we can get you tickets to see Jersey Boys at rates that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru June 1 it is not good for Saturday nights and is always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Jersey Boys on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre. You will love it. Wait a minute. I almost forgot the sole reason for this blog which was to show you the trailer for the movie. Good thing I remembered. So here you go. Enjoy! Until next time theatre fans.

See Broadway's Motown For Less On Broadway
Still haven't seen Motown yet? Well there is no better time than the present. I loved the show when I saw it. Of course being a big fan of the music certainly helps. I mean how can you not right? The Temptations? Check. The Jackson Five? Check. Diana Ross? Check. How about a little Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson thrown in as well. Motown has them all and then some. Now like I said I loved the show. In fact The Temptations are one of my favorite groups of all time. Well them and Lynyrd Skynrd. Now that is a story that deserves to be musicalized. But enough about what I like. You came here to find out how you can see Motown for less right? So let's get to it. Good seats are now available for performances thru July 6. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru then it is not good for Saturday matinees and as always is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Motown on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. You will love it.

Of Mice and Men Reviews
That's right theatre fans. Of Mice and Men opened last night at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway. The show which has not been seen on the Great White Way in forty years is scheduled to close on July 27. So were the critic's kind to James Franco and Chris Dowd and company? Let's find out. Enjoy!

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill Extends Thru August 10
That's right theatre fans. You will have even more chances to see Audra McDonald in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill on Broadway. No big surprise considering the outstanding reviews the shows got on Monday. Now while I haven't seem the show yet I have only heard good things about it. The big question is of course what category they will put the show in when the Tony nominations come out at the end of this month. Technically it is a "Play with Music" even though she does perform over a dozen of Billy Holiday's greatest hits. Plus I would think Audra might have a better shot at winning her sixth Tony Award due to this year's competitive race in the Best Actress in a Musical category. Either way we will find out on April 29 when the nominations are announced. Make sure to check back on that day when I will list the nominees.

Of Mice and Men To Open Tonight on Broadway
You've read the book. You've seen the movie. Now see Of Mice and Men live and on stage. Now believe it or not but I have never read the book or seen the movie. Although I do recall an episode a few years back on Saturday Night Live with the late Chris Farley and John Malkovich where they spoofed it in a very funny sketch. Does that count? Anyway this new production which opens tonight stars James Franco, Chris O'Dowd and Leighton Meester and marks the shows third time on the Great White Way and the first time in almost four decades. As of now the show is scheduled to play thru July 27 but if reviews are good it could extend. We shall see. I will post the show's reviews tomorrow so make sure to check back here to see what the critic's had to say. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all the way from Saratoga. No I am not talking about the one in New York but the one in Georgia. It's funny but I didn't even know there was another city called Saratoga out there. I guess it's true what they say huh? You learn something new every day. So anyway this past Saturday I received a call from a very nice gentleman who came to us via his travel agent who highly recommended us. Got to love customers like that right? So after finding out when he and his family would be here I asked him what he wanted to see. His choices were Rocky, All The Way, The Book of Mormon and last but not least the New York Yankees. Quiet a selection don't you think?
Now because they were only here for a limited amount of time they decided to see the Yankees on the same day as The Book of Mormon. Let's just hope there are no rain delays that day right? Because they just wanted the experience of going to the game they didn't necessarily have to have the best seats. Finally after a little checking around I was able to find then some really nice seats behind the Yankees dugout. Once down. Three to go. For both All The Way and The Book of Mormon I suggested the Front Mezzanine as the view is much better from up there. Luckily they agreed with me and I was able to get them some very nice seats in the center for both shows and for a rate that was lower than they were expecting. Two more down. One to go.
Now I actually saw Rocky last month and really enjoyed it. Oh sure the critics weren't as kind as the could of been but the critics also gave mixed reviews to Wicked when it opened eleven years ago and look what happened to that one? I rest my case. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the seating for Rocky they sell the first eight rows of the Orchestra not at a Premium which is usually the case but at regular price. They call it the Golden Circle and basically the ushers come down during the last twenty-minutes of the show, take you out of your seat, and escort you on to the stage where you sit and watch the show from bleachers. Pretty exciting don't you think? So there you have it folks? Four great events with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill Reviews
You know to be honest I actually forgot that Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill was opening last night. I mean it's kind of hard to keep track these days with shows opening up every week. That's what happens this time of year with all the new shows trying to open up before the Tony deadline. As expected the reviews were pretty good. I mean let's face it. It is Audra McDonald were talking about here people. Has this woman ever gotten a bad review in here life? I don't think so. Plus she's got five Tony Awards up on her mantel. Will this show win her a record breaking number six? We will soon fine out. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

Bullets Over Broadway Reviews
Well theatre fans the reviews are in and instead of telling you whether they are good or not I will just let you read them for yourself and let you decide. I loved the show as you can tell by the blog I posted yesterday. In another blog I stated that not only do I expect Bullets Over Broadway to be nominated for Best Musical but that it will win as well. I guess we will see on June 8th if I was right. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

Bullets Over Broadway To Open Tonight
Just last week I posted a blog about Bullets Over Broadway. To say that I loved it would be an understatement. In fact I can't tell you the last time I laughed that much at a Broadway show. Yes I can. It was in August 2003 when I saw Avenue Q for the first time. Since then I have seen the show over a half a dozen times. I guess you could say I'm a fan huh? Now do I think I could watch Bullets Over Broadway that many times and still find it just as funny each and every time? Well I am a big Woody Allen fan so you never know. That is if I can get my hands on some tickets after the reviews come out tomorrow. Now do I think the critic's will like it? I would like to think so but I guess I will just wait and see. Check back here tomorrow when I will post the reviews. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all the way from Washington. No not our nation's capitol. The state of Washington is what I am talking about. Spokane to be exact. Earlier in the week I received a call from one of our regular travel agents who's client was planning a trip to New York in June and wanted to see two shows while they were here. Care to guess what they wanted to see? Well I'll give you a couple of hints. Both are musicals and both won the top prize at the Tony Awards. Any idea yet? No it's not The Phantom of the Opera or The Lion King although those would be good guesses. Nope. I am talking about The Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. Two popular shows that surprisingly I have never seen. Oh well. It's not like they aren't going to be around for a long time right? So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when and more importantly where they wanted to see and how much they wanted to spend. Since they were flexible on their dates I suggested that the choose a weekday performance as not only would the seats be better but more than likely cheaper as well. Thankfully for them they agreed with me as I was able to get them excellent seats in the Center Mezzanine for both shows and at a rate that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

A Raisin In The Sun Reviews
Well the reviews for A Raisin In The Sun are in and guess what? They're pretty good. I mean are we really surprised? I know I'm not. After all Denzel Washington is my favorite actor of all time. Yes I know I may be a little partial. Plus I was hoping the critic's wouldn't give him a hard time because he is playing a forty year old man when we all know he is closing in on sixty. You know what I say? Who cares. A great actor is a great actor. Plus it helps that he is surrounded by a great cast and has a very talented director at the helm. Not too mention the show is a classic. Now on to the reviews.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker
Ten years. Where has the time gone? Ten years ago today I walked thru the doors of Applause to begin a new chapter in my life. Now while some of those doors may have changed over the years Broadway and the theatre is still a big part of my life. When I look back at all the shows that I have seen over the years I will say there have been more hits than misses. Yes there have been some that I have been less than thrilled with over the years. Doesn't mean they weren't entertaining at times. I love me some bad theatre. Well once in awhile that is. Now for those of you who read my blogs you are well aware about my feelings on the future of Broadway.
I am not nor have I ever been a big fan of Disney. The fact that they are on Broadway just makes be dislike them even more. Look don't get me wrong. They do have their place. If not for them most children would probably never get to experience Broadway for the first time or at all for that matter. For that they should be commended. I have always been a fan of those shows that are not afraid to take risks and more importantly are not based on a film or in Disney's case a cartoon. Yes I realize they are films too. I was just over exaggerating for effect. I tend to do that. Maybe I'm just being bitter because my own show is not on Broadway yet.
And yes I do mean yet. It will get there someday. Sooner than later I hope. So you may be wondering where I am going with all of this right? Well I'll tell you. As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog I have worked at Applause for ten years. Since then ten new musicals have taken the top prize at the Tony Awards. Of those ten only three were original. Care to guess which ones they are? Avenue Q, In The Heights, and last but not least The Book Of Mormon. Really? Three out of ten? I have just one word to describe how I feel about that. Pathetic. I take that back. I have two words to describe how I feel about it. Sad. Now just in case you are wondering here is the rest of the other winners.
Monty Python's Spamalot
Jersey Boys
Spring Awakening
Billy Elliott
Memphis
Once
Kinky Boots
Not only that but fourteen of the runner ups were all based on movies too. Where are the new ideas at people? Look I'm sure you all think I'm just being bitter because my own show may not be at the level that I want it to be. You couldn't be further from the truth. I love the theatre. That is the reason I moved here twenty years ago and is why I am still here today. Broadway is one of the greatest things about this city. It is one of the main reasons people travel all over the world after all. Let's just hope that continues for years and years to come. If not a lot of hard working people would be out of a job and quite frankly it would make me pretty sad too. Until next time theatre fans.

A Raisin In The Sun Starring Tony Winner Denzel Washington To Open Tonight On Broadway
Well would you look at that. A show on Broadway that I actually want to see. Now while I'll admit there are quite a few other shows that I am looking forward too none can compare to seeing my favorite actor in A Raisin in the Sun. In fact I can't recall a time when Denzel Washington wasn't my favorite actor. It must be going on at least twenty or more years. Now while I didn't get a chance to see him in his Tony Award winning performance four years ago in Fences I am going to move hell and high water to see this one. The only problem is I only have a limited time to do it as the show is schedule to close on June 15. Yes that means you better get your tickets too before time runs out. I will be posting the reviews first thing tomorrow so make sure to check back here to see what the critic's had to say. Until next time theatre fans.

Run, Don't Walk To See Bullets Over Broadway
Let me just first start off by saying that I am a huge Woody Allen fan. HUGE! Which is why I was so excited when it was announced over two year's ago that they were turning one of my favorite films into a big Broadway musical. Now for those of you who read my blogs know that I am not a big fan of movies being turned into musicals. Trust me. I'm not the only one who feels that way. I mean for every successful ones like The Lion King and Kinky Boots there are failures like Spider-Man and Shrek. Yes I know Spider-Man ran for over three years. It still lost millions of dollars and let's face it that's what really counts anyway. Am I right? Anyway as I'm sure you figured out by the title of my blog I saw the show. Last night in fact. Suffice to say I loved it. In fact I will go on record right now that not only will it probably receive the most Tony nominations of any show but it will also will win Best Musical of the Year. Yes I know that is a pretty bold prediction but I stand by it. Mark my words theatre fans. Bullets Over Broadway is going to be a big fat hit! Get your tickets now.

If/Then Reviews
That's right theatre fans. If/Then, the new musical starring Tony Award winner Idina Menzel made it's Broadway debut last night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Having written and produced my own musical last month I am always excited to see an original musical on Broadway. Now don't get me wrong. Some of my favorite shows of the past few years were either based on a movie (Billy Elliot, Once) or were built around some of my favorite music (Rock of Ages, Motown) That's the great thing about Broadway. There is so much variety. So what did the critic's have to say about If/Then? Let's find out. Enjoy!

If/Then Starring Tony Award Winner Idina Menzel To Open On Broadway This Sunday
Or should I say If/Then starring Adele Dazeem? Sorry. I just couldn't resist. The show which began previews on March 5 will officially open this Sunday at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway. Now to be honest I don't know a lot about the show except it is an original musical which as we all know is pretty rare these days and it stars Idina Menzel and was created by the creators of Next To Normal. I mean isn't that all you really need to know? Well that and if it is any good of course. After all theatre tickets ain't cheap folks. They don't have to be though. Thank goodness for "Insider Prices" right? Unfortunately If/Then is not one of those shows that have a deal like that. Doesn't mean that couldn't change. It really depends on the reviews and of course how well it is selling. As of right now it is selling pretty well so I think we may have to wait awhile until they lower the prices. Keep checking back here in the future for lower rates. Also I will be sure to post the reviews for the show on Monday morning. Let's hope their good. We shall see. Get your tickets to see If/Then at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Production Of Violet Starring Tony Winner Sutton Foster To Begin Previews This Friday
That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most beloved stars is coming home to star in a new musical. O.K. technically Violet is not a new musical as it first premiered Off-Broadway back in 1997. However this time will mark the shows first time on the Great White Way. Now I know you didn't come here to get a history of the show.
You came here because Sutton Foster is going to be on Broadway again right? Right. Ms. Foster who was last seen on Broadway in her Tony Award winning performance in Anything Goes will begin performances in Violet at the American Airlines Theatre this Friday. Opening night is set for April 20. Now to be honest I know nothing about the show. So for those of you like me here is a brief synopsis about Violet. Enjoy!
Violet tells the story of a young woman's quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime. Along the way, Violet forms unlikely friendships with her fellow riders, who teach her about beauty, love, courage and what it means to be an outsider.
Sounds kind of interesting don't you think? By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see Violet you have come to the right place. Not only that but if you call now you can purchase tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is only good thru April 20 and as always is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Violet at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. Expect the show to be a big contender at this year's Tony Awards.

Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Oregon. Bend to be exact. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to London next month and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were there. I take that back. They wanted to see three shows. Their choices were Billy Elliot, Wicked and Blithe Spirit. Three good choices don't you think? Not only that but I have actually seen two out of three of them.
Care to guess which one I didn't see? Don't worry. I won't hold you in suspense. It was Blithe Spirit. So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they wanted to go. Because they were going to be there for a almost a week they decided to take a day or two between shows. That way they would have more time to explore London. I know that's what I would do if I ever got the chance to visit there.
Now since they were on a budget they wanted to get good seats but not spend an arm and a leg. Makes sense to me. After all theatre tickets aren't cheap. Anyway after a little research I was able to find them some very nice but affordable seats for all three shows. Oh sure they were in the Balcony but still a full view. After all the theatres in London are not very big. Just like New York. So there you have it folks. Three great shows with great prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Les Miserables Reviews
Now believe it or not but in all the years that I have lived in New York I have never seen Les Miserables. Wait a minute. I take that back. I did see Act One twice. Does that count? I did see the movie which I enjoyed for the most part. When I saw it the first time it had been playing for over fifteen years by that point so understandably it came off it a little tired and boring, In fact the day after I walked out of it the show announced it's closing. Look I'm not saying I had anything to do with it. The truth is it had a good run and it was just it's time. Cut to almost four years later and I saw it again. The funny thing is I was actually starting to enjoy it but to be honest I was about ninety pounds heavier than I am now and trying to fit in to one of those chairs was not fun. About 30 minutes into the show I decided to stand in the back but I just wasn't digging it. Don't get me wrong. I stood over a half a dozen times to see Rent but that was my favorite show. Now here we are again and Les Miserables has returned to it's former home the Imperial Theatre in a new production. So what did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.

Revival Of Cabaret To Begin Performances Tonight On Broadway
Finally a show that I am looking forward to this season. Actually there are quiet a few shows that I want to see. This one just happens to be at the top of my list. Having worked in the Box Office at Studio 54 I must have seen Cabaret over a half a dozen times. It was probably more than that if I count all the times peeking in on the show on my way to the Company Managers office to drop off that evenings reports. Now the show which won four 1998 Tony Awards including Best Revival of the Year is set to begin previews tonight, at you guessed it, Studio 54. I guess you can go home again. Reprising his Tony winning role as the Emcee is one Mr. Alan Cumming.
Joining him as Sally Bowles is none other than three-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams who is making her Broadway debut. I have not doubt that she will be amazing. Now because of it's previous success at the Tony Awards it will be ineligible in several categories. In fact Michael Riedel of the New York Post speculated in his column today that not only does he think it won't be nominated for Best Revival but that Michelle Williams will be snubbed too. Now look I know that there is a lot of competition this year in the Leading Actress category but she is sure to be a contender. We shall see. Tickets for the show are selling like crazy so don't miss your chance to see what I'm sure will be one of the big highlights of this season. Until next time theatre fans.

Aladdin Reviews
Well the reviews for Disney's latest creation are in and without going into to much detail they are pretty complimentary for the most part. Oh sure there are some things that the critic's didn't like but that is the case with most shows. After all every show can't be a rave right? Regardless of what the critic's have to say Aladdin is her to stay my friends. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

New Play The Realistic Joneses A Realistic Look At Life
Now when I first moved to New York twenty-two years ago the only thing I usually went to see were musicals. Now I would rather see a play. Maybe it's because I'm sick of every movie or cartoon being turned into big splashy Broadway musical. Yes I know that they do make original musicals too. It's just that they are few and far between as far as I am concerned. Fortunately I had the chance to see a great new play last night on Broadway. The Realistic Joneses which marks the Broadway debut of Will Enos is one interesting night in the theatre to say the least. Now going into the show I had heard it was a comedy. Well a dark comedy I should say. Plus you know going in the acting was sure to be good considering it's stars.
For those of you that don't know The Realistic Joneses stars Toni Collette Michael C. Hall. Tracy Letts and Marisa Tomei. Now if that is isn't enough to make you want to see the show then I don't know what will. As you can tell I loved the play. Is it for everybody? Probably not I'm afraid. That's the great thing about Broadway. There is something for everyone. By the way for those of you who want to see The Realistic Joneses you have come to the right place. Not only that but we can get you tickets to see it at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru May 4 is for select seats and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see The Realistic Joneses at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway To Introduce Thursday Matinees
Oh come on now. You knew it was bound to happen eventually right? I mean who doesn't want to sit in a crowded theatre on a Thursday afternoon with a bunch of total strangers? Sounds like fun to me. Beginning on April 3 three of Broadway's most popular shows will now be playing at 2pm. Care to guess which ones? Well don't worry. I won't hold you in suspense. They are Cinderella, Mamma Mia and The Phantom of the Opera. Now I don't know about you but I think another weekday matinee is a great idea. I can't tell you how many people over the years have called asking if there were any afternoon shows during the week besides Wednesdays. Well good things come to those who wait because now there are. Who knows if sales go well then maybe more shows will follow suit. We shall see. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Florida. Maitland to be exact. Yesterday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a last minute trip to New York and wanted tickets to a few shows while they were here. Yes that's right. We are open on Sundays. Saturday's too. Anyway after finding out when they would be here I asked what they wanted to see and when. Well since they were only going to be here for a small amount of time they knew they would probably have to go to two shows in one day. They were right. The shows they wanted to see were Motown, A Raisin in the Sun and the New York Knicks.
Yes I know the last one is not a show but I have no doubt it will be just as exciting. I can say that because I am huge Knicks fan not too mention that they are on a six game winning streak. So know that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they were available. Like I said they only had a couple of days plus A Raisin in the Sun is one of Broadway's hottest shows. After a little research I was able to find two tickets in the last row of the Orchestra in the Center. I know what you're thinking. The last row? Are they even going to be able to see? Of course they are. It's not a very big theatre. Either are most of the other theatres in New York for that matter.
Plus by sitting a little further back I was able to get them for a rate that was lower than normal. Who doesn't love a bargain right? One show down. Two to go. Now for Motown I suggested he sit in the Front Mezzanine as the viewing is better. Luckily he agreed with me and I got him great seats right on the aisle. Last but not least were the tickets to the New York Knicks. Because they recently renovated the Garden all the viewing is even better than before. Plus once again the price was lower than they had seen anywhere else. So there you have it folks. Three great events with excellent seats and low prices too. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Spring Is Almost Here
That's right theatre fans. It's time to put away your winter coats and gloves and get ready for Spring. Well almost. I'm guessing we probably have another week or two of cold weather. Now I don't know about you but I am ready for a little sunshine. This past Winter has been insane. Spring can not come soon enough my friends. Not only that but with Spring comes some incredible savings as well. Just think about it. Over thirty Broadway and Off-Broadway shows that you can see for less. Sounds to good to be true now doesn't it? Well it's not. In fact right now is the perfect time to come to New York and take in a show. So why not save a little money at the same time? Use that extra money to go shopping or better yet treat yourself to a nice meal. I mean it's not like there is a shortage of great restaurants or place to shop. We're not called "The Capitol of the World" for nothing folks. Call now and see what one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause can do for you. See you at the theatre.

Rocky Reviews
Well the reviews for Rocky are in and for the most part they aren't too bad. Oh sure the New York Times wasn't exactly a rave but the truth is a review from them doesn't have as much punch as it did years ago when Frank Rich was still writing for them. Boy do I miss him. Now on to the reviews. Enjoy!

Rocky To Open Tonight On Broadway
You've seen the movie. Now see the show. I have to admit that when they first announced that they were turning Rocky into a musical I wasn't too surprised. After all they've turned almost every other movie into a musical right? Well maybe not all but it sure feels like it. The show which is of course based on the 1976 Academy Award winning movie is set to open tonight on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre. Now believe it or not but I have never been to that theatre.
Yes that's right. In all the years that I have lived here I somehow managed to avoid both Cats and Mamma Mia. Well not anymore because next week theatre fans I am seeing Rocky. That means I have now been in every theatre on Broadway. Well except for the ones like the Times Square Theatre which is empty and the Liberty Theatre which is home to the Liberty Diner. Who knows? Maybe I'll grab a bite to eat after the show and check another theatre off my list.
Now I'm not going to bore you with a synopsis of the show since anybody that is going to see it has already seen the movie. Several times I am guessing. Now as much as I loved the first one I will admit that I am a little partial towards the fourth one. It does have the best soundtrack after all. Maybe if this is a success they will turn the other ones into musicals too. Well except for the fifth one. I don't think anybody wants to sit thru that again. No matter how good the songs are.
Anyway for those of you who are looking to purchase tickets to the show there is no better time than right now. Good seats are now available for all performances and at prices that can't be beat. Just call now and ask for the Rocky "Insider Price" and we will take care of the rest. Watch for tomorrow's blog when I will post the reviews of the show. Let's hope their good. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald To Return To Broadway This Spring
Is it just me or does it feel like Audra McDonald was just on Broadway? Maybe it's because she has been a Broadway fixture for the better part of two decades. Plus she's won five Tony Awards since she made her Broadway debut in Carousel in 1994. For that role she won her first Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Now following her first Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical she is set to return to the Great White Way since 2012. Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill is set to begin previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway on March 25 with opening night set for April 13.
As of now the show is scheduled to run thru June 1. The show which played a limited run last year Off-Broadway is set in Philadelphia in 1959 and tells the story of legendary jazz singer Billy Holiday and the songs that made her famous. Audra McDonald as Billy Holiday? I don't know. However if anyone can pull it off it would be her. I mean you don't win five Tony Awards for nothing right? Now for those of you looking for tickets to see this show you have come to the right place. We sell it. Well that and every other show in New York. Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Maryland. This past Saturday we received a web order from a customer who was planning a last minute trip to New York with his family and wanted to see a show while he was here. Now while Applause may be open seven days a week we do take orders thru our website too. Care to guess what he wanted to see? Why none other than one of Broadway's most beloved shows of all time. That's right. I am talking about Les Miserables.
So anyway know that I knew what he wanted to see I asked him when he wanted to go. Now since it was a last minute trip he knew seats might be difficult to come by.He was right. Not only that but trying to get four seats together might be tough as well. Luckily for them they didn't care if they sat together. Makes sense right? I mean it's not like they can talk during the show right? When all is said and done I was able to get Center Orchestra and Center Front Mezzanine. Plus I got them for a rate that was lower than they has seen on other sites. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Broadway's Motown The Musical For Less This Spring
Still haven't seen one of Broadway's hottest shows? Well what are you waiting for people? Now is the best time to get tickets to see Motown The Musical. Not only that but at prices that can't be beat. I saw the show last year before it opened and absolutely loved it. Of course being a big fan of the music certainly helped for sure. In fact The Temptations are one of my favorite groups of all times. Throw in the Jackson Five, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye and you have one incredible night in the theatre my friends. Now for those of you who want to see the show you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell this show but every show both On and Off-Broadway. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru May 22 it is not good for Saturday and Sunday matinees and as always subject to availability. Customer Story
What? Has it really been over two and a half months since my last customer story blog? Now that doesn't mean we haven't had any customers since then. If that was true we would be out of business. No it's just between the holidays when we are more hectic and writing about all the new shows I have been a little busy. Not too mention I was on vacation last week. Now enough about me. Let's talk about one of our amazing customers.
Last Friday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York in April and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were Matilda The Musical and After Midnight. Now while I have seen Matilda and loved it I have never seen After Midnight. It did however get amazing reviews. I'm guessing that's why they wanted to see it. So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see and when they wanted to see it I asked the agent how many tickets they needed and of course where they wanted to sit.
Well as it turns out they needed twenty-two tickets to Matilda and twenty-four tickets to After Midnight. Now that's what I call a big order. When all was said and done I was able to get them excellent seats in the Front Mezzanine for both shows and at a price that was lower than they were expecting. Plus I was able to get them seats right in front of each other that way they had the best view. Sounds like a win-win don't you think? Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Broadway Revival Of A Raisin In The Sun Starring Denzel Washington To Begin Previews This Week
Well would you look at that? Another show that I am looking forward to seeing. No real surprise as Denzel Washington is my favorite actor. Now here he is back on Broadway once again. Not only that but he is starring in one of Broadway's most beloved plays of all time. Now when the show was first announced last year there was understandably a bit of disbelief among the theatre community. Myself included. After all the character of Walter Younger is supposed to be in his mid thirties. Don't get me wrong. I love Denzel but the man is going to be sixty at the end of this year. The truth is you can get away with it more on stage than on film. Plus he's DENZEL FREAKIN WASHINGTON!
So who cares if he's a little older right? After all theatre has always been about suspending belief anyway. Previews for A Raisin In The Sun are scheduled to begin previews at the Barrymore Theatre on March 8 with opening set for April 3. As of now it is scheduled to run thru June 15. Now in most cases of reviews are good the show will extend. However with star vehicles like that the run is pretty much set in stone before it even begins. Either way I sure don't want to miss it. Get your tickets to see A Raisin In The Sun starring Denzel Washington at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Award Winning Musical Cabaret To Return To Broadway Later This Month
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that Cabaret is coming back to Broadway. Yes I know. You're excited too right? One of my favorite theatrical experiences of all time was seeing Cabaret back in 1998. At the time I was working as an intern in the casting department at the Roundabout Theatre Company which meant that not only did I get the chance to meet tons of stars and directors but also got to see all the shows. In fact I actually got to attend the final dress rehearsal of the show prior to it's first preview. I will never forget sitting at a table next to the stage as the Kit Kat Girls made their first appearance.
Now I'll admit that I was a little taken aback when one of them started flirting with me. Not that I minded. What a great night at the theatre. Not only that but Liam Neeson and Vanessa Redgrave were sitting right behind me. It doesn't get any better than that my friends. After my internship was over I ended up working in the box office at the theatre and shortly after that I was transferred to Studio 54. Care to guess what show was playing there? That's right. Cabaret. Over the next few years I must have seen the show twenty or thirty times. I guess you could say I liked it. In fact even after I left the company I was invited back to see the final performance.
Now here we are ten years later and the show is coming back home to Studio 54. Not only that but Alan Cumming is recreating his Tony Award winning role. Joining him as Sally Bowles is three-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams. Now if that doesn't make you want to see it than I don't know what will. Previews are set to begin on March 21 with opening night scheduled for April 24. As of now the show is only on sale thru August 31 but I'm sure it will extend. After all the last revival was only supposed to run for a few months and instead played for almost six years. Will lighting strike twice? We will soon find out. Get your tickets to see Cabaret on Broadway at Studio 54. Who knows? You might just see me there. Until next time theatre fans.

Les Miserables Is Back On Broadway Where It Belongs
Believe it or not but I have never seen Les Miserables. I take that back. I did see the movie. Does that still count? Now while I never got around to seeing the stage production I have been a fan of the music for as long as I can remember. Who knows? Maybe I will finally get around to seeing this time. After all I'm sure it will be playing for a long time. This new production in honor of it's twenty-fifth anniversary began previews this past Saturday at the Imperial Theatre where the original production played for over twelve years. Let's hope this one is just as successful. Now for those of you like me who have never seen the show you are in luck. We sell it. Well that and every other show both On and Off-Broadway. Get your tickets to see Les Miserables at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Daniel Radcliffe To Return To Broadway This Spring In The Cripple Of Inishmaan
Let me just say that I am not a Harry Potter fan. As a matter of fact the only thing that I have ever seen Daniel Radcliffe is when he hosted SNL a couple of years ago. Look I am sure he is a great actor. Plus you have to respect the fact that he continues to return to Broadway despite the fact that he has never been nominated for a Tony Award for any of his performances. The Cripple of Inishmaan, which first premiered in London in 1996 opened Off-Broadway at the Public Theatre in 1998 where it opened to critical acclaim.
This new production which played a recent engagement in London also starring Mr. Radcliffe will make it's official Broadway debut when it begins performances at the Cort Theatre on April 12. Opening night is set for April 20. Now I don't know about you but that just may be the shortest preview period that I can ever recall. Good thing they've done the show already right? As of now the show is scheduled to run thru July 20 but as we all know if reviews are good it could stick around a little longer. I mean it's not like he's rushing off to make another Harry Potter movie after all. Get your tickets to see Daniel Radcliffe in The Cripple of Inishmaan at the Cort Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.
