Broadway Production Of Hadestown Celebrates Milestone

Let's be honest theatre fans. There isn't a whole lot to celebrate these days. Broadway is shut down thru June 7, and possibly longer. Shakespeare in the Park will not be performing for the first time in it's fifty-eight year history. And then when I thought it couldn't get any worse, Brian Dennehy passes away. O.K. I know. Enough of all this gloom and doom. Yesterday, the Broadway musical Hadestown, celebrated one year on the Great White Way. The show, which won eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical of the Year, began previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre on March 22, 2019,  prior to opening on April 17. Before the shutdown, Hadestown was one of Broadway's biggest hit's, recouping it's entire $11.5 million investment in less than eight months. Here's hoping that it, along with all other shows will be able to return once this is over, and Broadway will be back in business where it belongs. Stay safe everyone, and don't forget to look out for each other. Until next time theatre fans.
