As you all know, last night was the premier of "Take Me To The World, A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration." The all-star event, that streamed on YouTube/Broadway.com was a huge success, despite a few technical difficulties at the beginning. One of the highlights of the evening, was of course those talented trio of diva's, Meryl Streep, Audra McDonald, and Christine Baranski, who brought down the house with their rendition of "The Ladies Who Lunch", made famous by the late Elaine Stritch.
Thank god for all these events. I mean let's face it, where else would get our theatre fix right? Plus, they help raise money for a lot of great organizations at the same time. Which brings me to today's blog subject. Sing Street, which was scheduled to premier on Broadway this month at the Lyceum Theatre, will live stream a concert featuring both the cast's of the U.S. and U.K. companies.
The event, which will benefit The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Fund, will begin at 6:30PM ET on April 30, and continue thru 7PM ET on the Sing Street's Facebook page, and will feature songs from the show. Well I know where I'll be this Thursday. Stay safe everyone, and don't forget to look out for each other. Until next time theatre fans.
