My Thoughts On The Broadway Shutdown

So here we go folks. The $64,000 question. When will Broadway be back? As of now, all shows are scheduled to resume on Monday April 13. Now as much as I would love to think that we will all be sitting in a theatre in the next eight days, we all know that's not happening. Sorry to be negative, but it's true. Oh sure, we can all hope and pray that our favorite shows will be up and running in a little over a week. Trust me. I want that too.

But we have to face facts. This pandemic that has turned our world upside down, is not going away anytime soon. It's the truth, whether we want to believe it or not. Now we all know this won't last forever. It can't. But it also won't be over tomorrow either. It will take weeks, probably months until things are back to normal. Normal. That's a word a lot of us have never known. And that's o.k., because I like not being normal. I like being a little different, and I dare say a little unique.

I guess you could say the same thing about the theatre too. I mean let's face it. There is nothing in the world like the theatre. There is nothing like the sensation of sitting in a crowded theatre watching a big Broadway musical, or a classic play. Nothing. Some day soon, we will all feel that sensation again. And someday soon, we will all be together again, enjoying the thing that we all love. Live theatre. There is nothing like it. Stay safe everyone, and don't forget to look out for each other. Until next time theatre fans.
