It's funny but up until a few years ago the one thing I knew I could always count on was there would be at least five or six new musicals opening in the fall. Now we are lucky to get two before December.Nowadays most shows will wait until March or April to open. That way when the Tony nominations come out in early May they will be fresh in the minds of the Tony committee. Makes sense to me. I know when my musical opens on Broadway one day I want it to be the final show of the season.
Or do I want it to be the first? I guess I will just have to wait until a rich producer comes along and throws a few million dollars my way. A boy can dream can't he? Anyway enough about me and my show. Relatively Speaking an evening of one acts written by Woody Allen, Elaine May, and Ethan Cohen is set to begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on September 20. That's only a month away people. Opening night is scheduled for October 20. Now I am a huge Woody Allen. I have been ever since I played Humphrey Bogart in his production of Play It Again Sam in high school.
Elaine May and Ethan Cohen? Not so much. I take that back. I'm sure their plays are going to good as well. After all Elaine May is a comedy legend and Ethan Cohen is an Academy Award winning writer and director. Of course so is Woody. I told you I was a fan. By the way tickets for Relatively Speaking are now on sale. Good seats are available for all performances so don't delay. Call now. Get your tickets to see Relatively Speaking on Broadway. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there.
