Priscilla Queen of the Desert Broadway Show – The Mega Hit from London is Finally on Broadway

Pricilla Queen of the Desert is the latest sensation to take over Broadway. Don’t miss your chance to see this incredible show. Get your seats at Applause-Tickets today!

Priscilla Queen of the Desert New York City
Every once in a while, the continent that we call Australia reminds us in a big way that they are alive and kicking. The most recent way they have made their presence known is through their latest musical export – a show called Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Priscilla is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for those who like their musicals to be sunshine and rainbows and written by Stephen Sondheim. Priscilla is crude, rude, and absolutely hysterical. If you count yourself amongst those who enjoy drags queens, over the top disco music, and amazing Australian one liners, Priscilla Queen of the Desert will have you rolling in the aisles.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert Broadway show is the story of three aging drag queens living in Sydney. Each of them is in a bit of a rut for various reasons and they all decide to accept a gig on the other side of the country in a city called Alice Springs. This involves a journey across the outback in a bus they name Priscilla. Along the way they encounter bigotry, friendship, and a whole slew of small town characters.
The show is over the top in practically every way. From the lip synching and hip thrusting to the neon feathers adorning every inch of costume, Priscilla Queen of the Desert embraces the disco drag queen theme. And just when you thought that the show couldn’t get any more camp, it comes back to surprise you with the touching relationships that begin to emerge between the characters. Though they spend the majority of the two hours singing and dancing their way across a desert, the three men somehow manage to reveal hidden and very human parts of themselves as well.
Don’t miss your chance to get your Priscilla Queen of the Desert tickets. The show is opening in New York soon so call us today at 1-800-451-9930 to reserve your seats now.

Memphis Celebrates A Milestone

Has it really been a year since Memphis opened on Broadway? Time sure does fly. The show which won the Tony Award for Best Musical officially opened at the Shubert Theatre on October 19, 2009 to rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Now while the show was well received it wasn't a big hit at the box office until it won the big prize this past June. Since then it has continued to be one of Broadway' top grossing shows with receipts hitting a little under a million dollars a week. Not too bad for a show most predicted wouldn't last six months. By the way for those of you want to see this award winning musical I have good news for you. From now thru November 21 you can now purchase tickets to see Memphis for prices that are below face value. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not good for Saturday evenings and subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Memphis on Broadway. You will have the time of your life.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Greensboro,North Carolina. This past Saturday I received a call from a former resident of New York who was looking to bring her son and a few of his friends to New York the following weekend. I asked her if she had a show in mind and she said she was hoping to squeeze in a couple of shows while they were here.

Her first choice was Blue Man Group. I told her I didn't think that would be a problem as it was not a busy weekend and the show has been playing for a number of years. She was wondering if instead of getting all six seats together she could seat the kids in the poncho section as she knew the kids would love that and she and her friend could sit a little further back.

For those of you that are not familiar with the poncho section it is called that because during the course of the show the three actors smash food among other things that fly into the audience. Therefore they give the audience ponchos to wear to protect them from the flying debris. So anyway after securing her seats I asked her what she wanted to see for her second show and she selected one my personal favorites In The Heights.

Now for this show she was hoping she could get seats together if possible. I advised her that the Front Mezzanine is the best place to see the show as the first row overhangs very close to the stage and the set is very tall. She thanked me for that info and I got her six seats in the 5th row center. Not only that but I was able to get it for her for below face value. Well she loved that. So there you are. Two shows. Two great prices. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Below Face Value Broadway Tickets – Broadway Shows at Affordable Prices

Get tickets to the hottest Broadway shows at seriously discounted prices. Applause has deals that others can’t beat! Visit Applause-Tickets.com to find out more!

Broadway Tickets for Below Face Value Prices
If you have been on the internet anytime in the last five years, you may have noticed just how many ticket sales sites there are out there. People claim to have the lowest prices on tickets or the best selection of seats. This is all misleading advertising. The truth is that it’s just not that hard to find tickets to Broadway shows. They run every day (multiple times per day) and each theater holds hundreds and even thousands of people. What these so-called discount ticket sales websites do is buy tickets directly from the theater, add on a hefty service charge and then scalp them to unsuspecting customers. They make tons of money on inflated service charges for doing absolutely no real work.
Applause Tickets is different. When we say that we sell below face value Broadway tickets, it’s because the price we charge you for certain tickets is actually lower than the number printed on the ticket by the theater. How do we do it? Applause has been in business in New York City for over 20 years. We have relationships with all of the major theaters in town and they will let us know when they have excess tickets to sell. We then negotiate a discounted rate for those tickets, add on a nominal service charge, and sell those tickets to you at a price that is lower than face value.
Applause Tickets also believes in customer service, a term that those internet scalpers have never heard of. We have live operators standing by 7 days a week to personally help you find the tickets you want to the show you want to see. We will exhaust every resource we know of to help you pay a price that makes you happy. Though there is no guarantee on discounts for shows that are sold out, Applause can usually find below face value Broadway tickets to many of the most popular shows in town.
Call us today at 1-800-451-9930 to find out more.

The lights, the frosty weather, the smiles on faces – there is definitely something magical about the Christmas season. Of all the cities in the world, New York City embraces Christmas the most. If you like the sound of a stage full of snow, Santa, dancing, and cheer, let Applause Tickets help you find Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets for you and your entire family today.
The Christmas Spectacular has been running every year at Radio City since it debuted in 1933. The Rockettes are the real stars of the show. They are the in-house dance troupe for the theater and have been starring in this show since it began 77 years ago. Their precision high kicks, incredible costumes, and endless energy are awe inspiring.
This year, the show runs from November 5 to December 30. Applause Tickets has access to tons of Radio City Spectacular Discount Tickets which means that we can help you find the tickets to match your budget and time frame. As with many Broadway shows, the Christmas Spectacular often hides their excess tickets from the public, only allowing certain licensed ticket brokers like Applause to find them for you.

New Musical Bloody,Bloody Andrew Jackson To Open Tonight

A rock musical about the seventh President of the United Sates? Really? I know I'm not the first person to think that it was a crazy idea. Well evidently someone thought it was a good idea as Bloody,Bloody Andrew Jackson is opening tonight on Broadway. The show which first premiered at the Public Theater last Spring began previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on September 20. I saw the show last week and really enjoyed myself. It's nice to see a show not based on a cartoon or a successful movie from the last twenty years. Now while I liked it I'm not sure how it will do. Yes it got great reviews during it's Off-Broadway run earlier this year and was extended three times. However that was a small theatre. I personally hope it does well. We shall see. I will post the reviews tomorrow. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Production Of Jersey Boys Reaches Milestone

Can you believe it's been almost five years since the Jersey Boys first opened? I know I can't. Now believe it or not but today's blog is not about that. Although that would be big news too. No today's blog is about something even more historic. Yesterday it was announced that the Jersey Boys has become the longest running show in the history of the August Wilson Theatre.

The theatre which was built in 1925 was formally known as the Virginia Theatre prior to being renamed for the late playwright in October 2005. The show which opened to rave reviews in December 2005 continues to be one of Broadway's highest grossing shows with no end it sight. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we are still talking about the show a decade from now.

I myself didn't see the show until almost two years into the run as I was worried that the show wouldn't live up to all the hype. Boy was I wrong. Not only is it a great show but I would even go as far to say that it is in my top ten of all time Broadway shows that I have seen. Trust me folks. It is a must see. Do you have to be a fan of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons? No. But it certainly does help. Get your tickets to see Jersey Boys on Broadway. You will love it.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the from Melville, New York. Late last week I received a call from a very nice woman who was planning a day trip into the city later on this month and wanted to see a show while she was here. I asked here what she wanted to see and she was hoping to get tickets to see the Broadway revival of Promises,Promises. I told her that shouldn't be a problem and that not only could I get her great seats but probably at an "Insider Deal".

For those of you that are not familiar with that term it basically means that we can get you top seats for a lower rate. Sometimes lower than what you would pay if you went to the box office yourself. Anyway after finding out the date she was available I was able to secure her six seats together in the second row of the Front Mezzanine which by the way is the best view for that show. Not only that but at a rate that was lower than she had seen anywhere else. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

2010 Big Apple Circus is Now On Sale

Who says you're too old to enjoy the circus? I know I'm not. As a child I always looked forward to when the circus would come to my hometown. Granted it was only every couple of years but it was enough to satisfy me until the next time it came our way. Now of course when most people think of the circus today the first thing that comes to their mind is the Ringling and Barnum and Bailey Circus. I know I do.

Well here in New York we have the Big Apple Circus. Now to be honest in all the years that I have lived here I have never seen it. I guess I'm a little to old to sit in a big tent with a bunch of screaming kids. Now when I have kids of my own I'm sure I will check it out. Until then I will just stick to selling the show to people that will appreciate it. Performances for the 2010 edition is set to begin on October 21 and run thru January 9, 2011. Good seats are available for most performances so call now.

Sister Act The Musical To Open At The Broadway Theatre In April 2011

That's right theatre fans. Sister Act has found a home. The show which is being produced by Whoopi Goldberg will be begin previews at the Broadway Theatre on March 24, 2011 with opening night set for April 20. Now while the movie has always been a personal favorite of mine I have never been big on movie to stage transfers.

Except for a few exceptions like The Full Monty and The Producers most of those lack the heart and soul that the movies have. Maybe this time it will be different. Also according to an article in today's New York Post it was announced that the shows writers have been ousted in favor of Tony nominated scribe Douglas Carter Beane. Now as of now this is all hearsay. However I would not be surprised if it happens.

The Post has a great track record when it comes to the news. We shall see. Until then we can speculate on who will star in the upcoming show. My guess is they will keep Patina Miller who earned raves for her portrayal of show girl turned nun on the run Deloris and seek some big name movie and Broadway stars for some of the supporting roles. Let the games begin. Until next time theatre fans.

What? You still haven't seen The Phantom of the Opera yet?I mean it's only been playing since 1987 after all. By now I would think every one on the planet has seen it by now. Yet here we are in 2010 and the show is still one of Broadway's most popular shows. Who would have thought? Anyway the reason for today's blog is to tell you about an incredible offer. From now thru November 3 you can get tickets to see this Tony Award winning musical at rates that are....wait for it....below face value. Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Broadway Grosses

That's right theatre fans. It's time. Time for what you say? Why it's time to take a look at last week's grosses of course. Now of course there were the usual shows like Wicked and The Lion King who grossed over a million dollars. No shock there as they have been doing that since they opened. There was however a new member of the million dollar club.

American Idiot. Now before you start to think that the rest of the world all of a sudden woke up one and day and decided they all had to run out and see American Idiot in the same week they didn't. The real reason the show had a 40% increase from the week before is because Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong joined the cast for the week.

I bet the producers of Million Dollar Quartet wished Johnny Cash or Elvis was still alive to boost their sales. Other shows to post high numbers last week were Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot and Promises,Promises. Later this week will bring the debut of one of this season's most highly anticipated new shows Driving Miss Daisy starring Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones. Look for that show to be a big seller at the box office. Now onto the rest of last week's grosses. Enjoy.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Newport, Rhode Island. To be honest we don't get a lot of calls from that state. In fact in the six years that I have worked at Applause I don't think I've ever sold tickets to anyone from Rhode Island. How strange is that? So anyway this past Saturday I received a call from a very nice woman who was planning a trip to New York to take her family to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas Tree and was hoping to see a show while they were here.

I asked her what she wanted to see and said she was hoping to get tickets to see Wicked. She herself had already seen the show but her two sisters and her mother-in-law had not. I asked her what day she was she was free and she said she was hoping to get tickets for the Sunday performance if it was still available. Luckily I was able to find six very nice seats together in the 2nd row of the Mid-Mezzanine in the center.

Not only that but at price that was lower then she had seen anywhere else. Well she loved that. Plus I was able to give her several restaurants for her and her family to check out while she was here. Although we no longer sell dinner vouchers we can help you find the best places to east and at the best prices. Since we live in the city we consider are self experts when it comes all things New York. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Tickets Now On Sale For The Pee-wee Herman Show On Broadway

Let me just start off by saying how I excited I am about seeing this show. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that one of my favorite performers would ever be on Broadway.Growing up as a child his Saturday morning show not too mention his movies were a personal favorite of mine.

Now here we are almost thirty years since The Pee-wee Herman Show first premiered at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles and it is about to take Broadway by storm. In fact the show hasn't even opened at they have already extended the run. Looks like Pee-wee is backfolks. Previews are set to begin at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on October 26 with opening night set for November 11.

As of now the shows final performance is scheduled for January 2,2011 but if reviews are good I would not be surprised if it extends a few more weeks. We shall see. Get your tickets to see the Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway. Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theatre fans.

Driving Miss Daisy To Begin Previews Next Week

That's right theatre fans. One of this season's most highly anticipated new shows is about to begin. Driving Miss Daisy is set to begin previews at the John Golden Theatre on October 7 with opening night scheduled for October 25. The show which will run thru January 29, 2011 stars Tony winners James Earl Jones, Vanessa Redgrave, and Boyd Gaines. Believe it or not but this will mark the shows first time on Broadway. Most people forget that while the show enjoyed a long successful run in New York from 1987-1990 it was at an Off-Broadway theatre.

That productions originally starred Tony nominee Dana Ivey and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman who reprised his role for the 1989 film. Being a big fan of the film I can not wait to see this production. Plus with a cast like this you know it's going to be good. Be advised that while most dates are close to being sold out there really is not a bad set as the theater only seats 800. That means whether you are in the first row or the last row you will have a great view. Get your tickets to see Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway. Expect the show to be a big contender at this years Tony Awards.

Twisted Sister Frontman Dee Snider To Join Cast Of Rock Of Ages This Month

Just when you thought Rock of Ages couldn't get more even wilder comes the news that Dee Snider is joining the cast. Beginning on October 11 Mr. Snider will play Bourbon Room owner Dennis Dupree. The former frontman for Twisted Sister will play a limited 11-week engagement at the Brooks Atkins Theatre thru December 24.

In addition to his role in the 80's rock musical he will also host a weekly talkback series called "Rock Senate Hearings" which will play on Tuesday nights beginning on October 19. Now those of you who read my blogs now that Rock of Ages is one of my favorite shows on Broadway. Truth be told I never expected to like it as much as I did.

I'm not really a fan of the whole "Jukebox Musical" with Jersey Boys being the one exception of course. Besides being a fan of the music I just think the show is a lot of fun. How many other shows can say that? Anyway for those of you who haven't seen the show now is the perfect time.

From now thru October 30 you can get seats to this Tony nominated musical for prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is for select seats and subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway. You will have the time of your life.

New Musical Catch Me If You Can To Open On Broadway Next Year

Well it looks like the 2010-2011 Broadway season is shaping up to be a big one. Following the recent announcement that Priscilla Queen of the Desert will open at the Palace Theatre in Spring 2011 comes the news that another screen to stage transfer will also make it's Broadway debut.

Catch Me If You Can, a new musical based on the 2002 film of the same name, will begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 7, 2011 with opening night set for April 10, 2011.

The show which first premiered in 2009 at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre will feature a score by Tony winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Directing the show is two-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien with choreography by fellow Tony winner Jerry Mitchell. All four men previously collaborated on Hairspray which won the 2003 Tony Award for Best Musical and enjoyed a six year run on Broadway.

Will lighting strike twice? Now while I have never seen the film I expect the show to do very well and be a big contender at next years Tony Awards. We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.

Never in a million years did I ever think that I would hear the music of one of my favorite bands on Broadway. Yet here we are in 2010 and American Idiot is a major force on the Great White Way. In fact Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is performing the role of St. Jimmy beginning tonight thru October 3. Good luck getting tickets now folks. Now for those of you who still want to see the show even after Mr. Armstrong leaves do I have good news for you. From now thru January 20, 2011 you can get get tickets at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for Saturday evenings and is for select seats. Now having seen the show I can tell you that there in not a bad seat in the house. Plus the show is very loud which means whether you are in the front of the Orchestra or the rear of the balcony you will get the full effect. Get your tickets to see Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway. You don't have to be a fan of Green Day to enjoy it. Although it sure helps.

Customer Story

That's right theatre fans. It's time for my first customer story in almost two weeks. Let me guess. You were all going thru withdrawls weren't you? NOT! Anyway today's customer story actually happened right before I left for vacation. Now usually I can't remember what happened two hours ago let alone two weeks.

However this was a very memorable customer. It was late in the day when I received a call from a travel agent who's client was looking for a large number of tickets to The Lion King next month. Eighteen tickets to be exact. Now while the show has been playing for almost thirteen years it is still one of Broadway's hottest selling shows.

In fact it still sells over a million dollars a week. How many long running shows can say that? So now that I knew how many she needed I asked her when her client was available. Of course she picked one of the most popular dates of the year.

Columbus Day weekend. Oh sure it's not Thanksgiving or Christmas but it is still a busy weekend. So now we've got the number and the date. The only thing left is the price. Well not only was I able to get all eighteen seats together but at a price that was lower than she had seen anywhere else. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert To Begin Previews On Broadway In February 2011

Well that sure didn't take long for the Palace Theatre to find a new tenant now did it? Fresh off the announcement that West Side Story will shutter it's doors in January Priscilla Queen of the Desert will take it's place. The show which first premiered in Sydney in 2006 will begin previews on February 28, 20011 following a 12-week engagement at The Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. Opening night is set for March 20, 2011. Now while I enjoyed the movie I really don't remember that much about it except the music. Based on the success the show has had in other cities around the world I would assume the show will do very well over here. Could we have another Mamma Mia on our hands? We shall see. Until next time theatre fans.

West Side Story To Close January 2011

That's right theatre fans. It was just announced that one of Broadway's most beloved musicals of all time will soon depart. West Side Story will play it's final performance at the Palace Theatre on January 2, 2011. The show which opened on March 19, 2009 will have played a total of 27 previews and 748 regular performances when it closes. Growing up the movie was and still is a favorite of mine. Therefore when it was announced that the show would be returning to Broadway for the first time in almost 3o years I was very excited. Now while I was disappointed by some of the casting choices it was still a solid show overall. My guess is that this will be the last time the show is revived for a very long while if not ever again. Therefore I encourage you to check it out before it is too late. It is a piece of theatre history after all. Get your tickets to see West Side Story on Broadway. Time is running out.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

Today as I was walking to work, as I do every day, I found myself taking my time as I made my way thru Times Square to my office on 43rd Street and 8th Avenue. My office like many ticket brokers is in the theater district. In fact I am only a block and a half away from some of Broadway's most oldest and well known theatres. Now as I made my way up Broadway I stopped at the Wintergarden Theatre (Mamma Mia) where I noticed a sign that was hanging from the marquis. It read, "The Best Time On Broadway". Since I have never seen the show I really can't agree or disagree with that statement.

Now since the show has been running around the world for over a decade I can only assume that people love it. After all a show doesn'r run that long if people aren't enjoying it. Having lived here for the better part of two decades I can pick ten to fifteen other shows that I would pick as the "The Best Time On Beoadway".Rent of course is my favorite show. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The thing is it doesn't really matter what I think. I usually see the shows for free. That's one of the perks of working in this business. What matter is that we continue to support the theatre. Now whether that's here in New York or at some small theatre in your hometown. Live theater. There is nothing like it. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Grosses

Wow! What a difference a week makes huh? Last week there were six shows that were part of the million dollar club. This week there were only two. The Lion King and Wicked. No surprise there as they are still two of the most popular shows running on the Great White Way. As of now no shows are scheduled to close except for those select ones that are only playing for a limited run of course.

Now looking at last weeks grosses I can't imagine American Idiot or even Next To Normal lasting for too much longer. In fact there is a rumour that Next To Normal could close as early as January 2, 2011. Mind you that is a rumour and not confirmed. I for one hope that it lasts as it is truly one of the most original and emotional shows on Broadway today. Keep your fingers crossed. Now onto last week's grosses. Enjoy!

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Austin, Texas. Now believe it or not but we were open on Labor Day. At first it seemed like it was going to be a rather slow sales day. However around 1pm the phone action started to pick up. Makes sense right? People are at home. I mean what else is there to do on your day off? Go to the beach for one last day in the sun? Been there. Done that. So anyway I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York for the Thanksgiving holiday and wanted to see a couple of shows while she was here. I asked her what she wanted to see and she told me that Billy Elliot and The Phantom of the Opera were here two top shows.

Now normally for a show like Phantom we can get good tickets for below face value as it has been playing for a number of years. Twenty-two to be exact. However since it was a holiday week most shows will not offer any kind of discount. So after a little research I was able to find her three very nice seats in the center section of Row C in the Front Mezzanine. Plus at a rate that was lower that she has seen anywhere else. After securing seats for Phantom we moved on to her second show Billy Elliot. Once again I was able to find excellent center seats in Row B of the Front Mezzanine. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

So here I sit at my desk on a surprisingly cold Saturday in September trying to figure out something to blog about. Now as most people know September tends to be a rather lackluster month here in the big city. The kids are back in school and most shows see a dip in sales at least until the middle of October or even later for some. Of course before you know it November will be here and performances will begin for this year's Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

Followed of course by Thanksgiving and the Christmas Tree lighting at Rockefeller Center and finally Christmas and New Year's. Then we get to start all over again. Here's to 2011!.Yes I know that is still over three months away. It's funny but before I moved to New York time always seemed to go slow. Of course growing up in the Midwest everything is slow. That's probably why I was in such a hurry to move here.

Cut to almost twenty years later and I'm now wishing life moved a little slower. Boy do I sound old or what? The fact is we are all going to get old eventually. Might as well embrace and enjoy it. I don't know about you but I can't wait my 30's are over. Bring on the 40's. Well I guess I did find something to write about. Sure it wasn't about the theatre but it least it was meaningful. Sure maybe but not to you but that's o.k. too. Until next time.

Save On Broadway's Longest Running Show The Phantom Of The Opera This Fall

Who would have thought that when The Phantom of the Opera first opened in 1987 we would still be talking about it twenty-three years later? Now while I enjoyed the show I never thought it would still be here all these years later. Yet here we are in 2010 and the show is just as popular as it ever was. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it ran another ten years. The show which recently welcomed back one of it's longest tenured Phantom's Hugh Panaro is still one of Broadway's highest grossing shows week in and week out. Now the reason for today's blog is to tell you about a special offer. From now thru November 6, 2010 you can tickets to see the show for prices that are.......wait for it.....below face value. Who says that Broadway tickets have to be expensive? Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for Saturday evening performances and is subject to availability. Save On Tony Winner Memphis This Fall

That's right theatre fans. This year's Tony Award winner for Best Musical is now available at some incredible savings. I am of course talking about Memphis. The show which began previews at the Shubert Theater last September also won the Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Book of a Musical. Now while the show received rave reviews when it opened last year it really didn't become a hit at the box office until it win the Tony. Since then it has been grossing close to a million dollars a week.

The show which is set to launch it's National Tour next year is one of the most energetic and uplifting shows on Broadway. It's what is known as a real "Crowd Pleaser".Makes you run out right now and buy tickets doesn't it? Now as I mentioned you can now get good seats to see this award winning musical at some amazing prices. From now thru November 21 you can obtain tickets to see Memphis at prices that can't be beat. Broadway Production Of Jersey Boy Celebrates Milestone

Has it really been almost five years since Jersey Boy opened on Broadway? Time sure does fly doesn't it? In fact the show will celebrate it's 2000th performance tomorrow. The show which won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical is still packing them in at the August Wilson Theatre eight times a week as well as at theatres in London, Australia, and Nationwide. Now unlike most people I wasn't too excited about the show when if was first announced. The truth is I'm not a big fan of the so called "Jukebox Musical".

I've never seen Mamma Mia and probably never will. So cut to two years into it's run and I finally broke down and saw the show. Turns out I loved it. In fact I would put it in the top ten shows that I have seen on Broadway in the last decade or so. Trust me It is amazing. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if it reaches another 2,000 performances before all is said and done.By the way for those of you who haven't seen the show now is the perfect time. Good seats are available for all performances so call now. Get your tickets to see Jersey Boys on Broadway or when it comes to a city near you. You will have the time of your life. I know I did. Tickets To Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark To Go On Sale September 13

Let me guess. You're as excited about this news as I am right? NOT! Let's face fact's. This show has been postponed more times than I can count. I know it's only been three times. It just seems like more. After all people have been talking about this show for almost five years now. At this point does anybody really care? Now believe it or not but I actually want to see the show. You see the thing is I love me a good old fashioned Broadway flop. Who knows? The show might surprise as all and be a hit. Although according to yesterday's article in the New York Times the show would have to run at full capacity for almost five years straight for it to make it's money back. I don't see it. However I will be the first to admit it if I am wrong. We shall see. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Revival Of Driving Miss Daisy To Go On Sale This Thursday

That's right theatre fans. One of this season's most anticipated shows will soon be available. Driving Miss Daisy which stars Tony Award winners Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones, and Boyd Gaines will begin previews at the Golden Theatre on October 7 with opening night set for October 25. The show is scheduled to close on January 29, 2011.Prior to it's official box office opening on Thursday the show was on sale to American Express Gold Card members. Now while the show is not completely sold out you can expect ticket sales to increase as we get closer to the first preview.

The 1989 Academy Award winning movie was a personal favorite of mine so I can't wait to see it live on stage. Plus you've got three of Broadway's finest actors to boot. Makes you want to rush out and buy a ticket right now doesn't it? By the way the Golden Theatre only seats about 800 people which means there really isn't a bad seat in the house. However that also means it will sell out faster due it's size. Get your tickets to see Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway. I know I can't wait to see it. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there.

Broadway Grosses

Is it really September already? Where did the Summer go? Before you know it Christmas will be here. Yes I know it's still over three months away but trust me. Time moves very fast my friends. Once again the same top shows lead the pack. They were Billy Elliot,Jersey Boys,Promises,Promises,The Addams Family,The Lion King, and finally Wicked. Now September is always a slow month so even shows like Million Dollar Quartet and Next To Normal that are posting a low number should probably see a boost as we get deeper into the holidays. I for one hope both shows stick around for awhile as they are two favorites of mine. Keep your fingers crossed theatre fans. Now onto last weeks grosses. Enjoy!

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Irving, Texas. This past Friday I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York later this month and was hoping to see a couple of shows while she and her husband were her. I asked her if she had a couple of shows in mind and she mentioned that while her husband was not a big Broadway fan he did want to see Million Dollar Quartet as he is a big fan of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. I asked her when she and her husband were available to go and I was able to get her excellent seats in the Center Front Mezzanine for below face value. For her second show she wanted to see the new Broadway revival of Promises, Promises. However this time she needed three tickets as she was treating her niece who lives in New York to the show. Once again I was able to get her great seats in the Front Mezzanine center for the same price as the other ones. Not only that but I was able to suuggest over a dozen restaurants to check out while she was here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

My Thoughts On The Ticket Industry

Having worked at at Applause Theatre Service for over six years now I can tell you that I have seen and heard it all. In fact just the other day I received a call from a woman who wanted to know if we could get her good seats to see Wicked on Broadway during the Thanksgiving holiday. I told her that although that is one of the busiest times of the year it should be no problem as she was looking far enough in advance. Plus we always make a point to keep a lot of inventory for that time of the year as we know that there will be a lot more people in the city.

Now what she said next threw me for a loop. As I said before I have been doing this for a long time. Therefore you would think that there was nothing that she could possibly ask me that I hadn't hear before right? Wrong. She wanted to know if I could get her five seats in Zone A for the Friday matinee the day after Thanksgiving. Having never heard of zone seating before I immediately thought that perhaps I was the one that was confused. Maybe she was looking for Wicked at another theatre besides the one on Broadway.

Maybe other theatres have a different name for Orchestra and Front Mezzanine seating. Who was I to question her? Well as it turns out prior to calling me she had called another company who offered her seats in Zones A, B, and C. Not only that but it was for the New York production after all. Now it doesn't take a genius to figure out that since A is at the top of the alphabet that means that A was Orchestra and Front Mezzainine and that B and C were probably Mid and Rear Mezzanine. Makes sense right?

So after figuring that out I found some very nice seats for her in the Front Mezzanine at a price that was lower then she was seeing elsewhere. So anyway after wrapping up the sale I decided to do a little research on this so called "Zone Seating" that she was talking about. It seems that "Zone Seating" is a phrase made up by a lot of brokers that allows them to offer a customer seats for shows that they hope to be able to fill at a later date.

That means you will probably get seats but you won't know the exact locations at the time of purchase. Basically that means you could be paying a lot of money to sit behind a pole. Now having been in every theatre there really isn't a bad seat no matter where you sit. Oh sure some theatres do have partial view seats but at least they tell you that before you purchase them. Trust me. I would never give someone my hard earned money without at least knowing where I am sitting. So? Why should you. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Revival Of La Bete Starring Tony Winner David Hyde Pierce Now On Sale

That's right theatre fans. La Bete is coming back to Broadway. Let me guess you've never heard of it right? Well believe it or not but it actually opened on Broadway in 1991 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre where it ran for a total of 25 performances. Following it's disappointing run on Broadway it transferred to London where it won the Olivier Award for Best Play. I guess the Brits knew something we didn't.

Cut to eighteen years later and the show is being revived in a new production starring the aforementioned David Hyde Pierce Alma with Tony winner Mark Rylance(Boeing-Boeing) and Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley. Prior to it's Broadway opening the show played at the Comedy Theater in London from June 26-August 28, 2010.

Previews for the Broadway production begin on September 23 at the Music Box Theatre with opening night set for October 14. One can only hope that this new production fares better than it's predecessor. We will soon find out. As of now the show is only scheduled to run thru February 13,2011.

By the way if you call now we can get you tickets to see La Bete on Broadway for below face value. Be advise that this "Special Offer" is good for every performance except October 14 (Opening Night) and subject to availability. Good seats are available for every performance so don't delay.Get your tickets to see La Bete on Broadway. Who knows? It might just succeed this time around.

2010 Fall London Theatre Season

Now believe it or not but I have never been to London. In fact except for the occasional trip to visit my family in Illinois I rarely leave New York City. Now don't get me wrong. I'm sure I would love it. Probably so much that I would want to stay forever. No. I love to New York too much to do that. Now unlike Broadway where a new season begins in June following the Tony Awards and usually ends during the last week of April London doesn't work that way. A show opens when it wants too. Let's take a look.

First up is Les Miserables. Yes I know it's not a new show. In fact the show is set to celebrate it's 25th Anniversary. To mark that special occasion a special concert version of the show starring Broadway veterans Norm Lewis,Tony winner Lea Salonga, teen pop sensation Mick Jonas will play London's O2 Arena on October 3. Not only that but another production of this award winning musical will play at it's original theatre(Barbican)from September 14-October 2. Three productions of Les Miz at the same time? What is a theatre fan to do? See all three I guess.

Next up is Passion. The show which won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical will begin performances at the world renowned Donmar Warehouse on September 10. The theatre will also present concert version of two of Sondheim's other know works. Merrill We Roll Along and Company. Next up is Fela. The show which received ten 2010 Tony nominations including Best Musical will begin preview at the Nationals Olivier Theatre on November 6. Sahr Ngaujah who received a Tony nomination for Best Actor will cross the pond to reprise his role for the London production.

To be honest I'm not sure how London theatregoers will take to the show? However if it is as well received as the New York production expect the show to have a long run. Finally we have Flashdance The Musical. Any idea what it is based on? Why the cult 1983 movie of the same name of course. I have a feeling this one might do very well in London. Now I've been wrong before but London theatregoers loved Dirty Dancing and turned it into one of the biggest hits in years. We shall see. Sounds like London might be the place to be this fall.Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there.Until next time theatre fans.

Save On Tony Winner Avenue Q This Fall

Seven years and counting and Avenue Q is still one of New York's funniest shows. Having seen the show four times I can attest to how great the show is. In fact it was the first Broadway show my parents ever saw. Even to this day they still talk about and that was over six years ago. Now that's one memorable show folks.

The show which beat Wicked for the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year transferred to a theater Off-Broadway in 2009 following a six year run on the Great White Way. Most shows are lucky to run a couple of years so seven really says something.I have to commend the producers of the show for taking the innovative to move the show to a smaller venue in order to extend it's run for the foreseeable future.

Now for those of you who haven't seen the show yet do I have good news for you. From now thru December 23 you van get tickets to see this Tony Award wining musical for prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is good for all performances except Saturday evenings. Get your tickets to see Avenue Q. Good seats are available so call now. You will love it.

Broadway Revival Of Mrs. Warren's Profession To Begin Performances Tonight

Now I'll admit I'm not an expert when it comes to the classic playwrights of the 19th Century. Heck if it wasn't written after 1960 I probably have never read it or seen it. When I first moved to New York I was more of a musical type of guy. Although I will say over the last few years I have enjoyed more of the plays than the musicals.

Tonight will mark the first new production of George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession since 1976. The show which was written in 1893 stars two-time Tony Award winner Cherry Jones in the title role and Golden Globe winner Sadie Hawkins will officially open at the American Airlines Theatre on October 3. Tickets are on sale thru November 21.

As with most Roundabout Theatre productions seating is limited in the first few weeks due to the fact that is a subscription house. The good thing is that the American Airlines Theatre is so small that there truly is not a bad seat in the house. Just a reminder that if you call before October 10 you can get tickets to see Mrs. Warren's Profession at prices that are below fave value. Be advised that this is for select seats and is subject to availability. Call now.

Now Is The Best Time To See West Side Story On Broadway

Growing up as a child the movie version of West Side Story was always a favorite of mine. Now though I have lived in New York for almost twenty years I never thought I would ever see the show on Broadway. The last revival was over 30 years ago and while popular only ran half as long as the original 1957 production. Plus with it's large cast and well known but somewhat difficult choreography it was probably hard finding a producer willing to finance a new production.

Therefore when it was announced in the fall of 2008 that the show was coming back to Broadway I was thrilled but skeptical that this new revival would not live up to my memories of the classic film. Prior to it's Broadway opening in March 2009 it opened in Washington D.C to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Things were looking good for this beloved musical. Being in the industry that I am in we often get invited to all the new shows prior to it's opening night.

That way when people call and want to know what to see or not to see in some cases we can give them an honest opinion. Finally it was time to see the show. Now as I said I did walk into the theatre with a little trepidation. I am happy to say that after almost 3hrs in the theatre I was thoroughly entertained. Now was it as good as the movie? No. Let's face it. That is a lot to live up too my friends. Is it worth seeing? You better believe it.The truth is this will probably be the last time the show will ever be revived on the Great White Way again.

I suggest you see it before it disappears for good. Now don't worry. It's not closing next week. However I would not expect it to last more than another year or so. Now for those of you who have not seen this Tony Award winning play then do I have good news for you. From now thru the end of October you can get tickets to see this beloved musical at some incredible savings. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good from October 8-10 and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see West Side Story on Broadway. Film Star Brendan Fraser To Make Broadway Debut This Fall

Afternoon theatre fans. After much speculation it was officially announced today that film star Brendan Fraser will make his Broadway debut this November. Elling, a new play based on the popular Norweigan novels by Axel Hellstenius and Petter will begin previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on November 2, 2010 with opening night set for November 21, 2010.

The show which is being directed by fellow Tony winner Doug Hughes is set to run thru March 20, 2011. Joining Mr. Fraser are Tony Award winners Denis O'Hare, Richard Easton and film and television star Jennifer Coolidge. Here is a brief synopsis of the show from today's press release.

"Set in the current day, ELLING is a comedy about a wildly mismatched pair of roommates trying to embrace life, love, friendship, pizza, poetry and women. Denis O'Hare plays obsessive/compulsive Elling. Brendan Fraser, plays the wildly enthusiastic gentle giant Kjell. Jennifer Coolidge plays Reidun, the object of Kjell's considerable affection, and Richard Easton plays Alfons, Elling's unlikely poet mentor."

Now while Mr. Fraser may not be the box office draw he used to be I personally am looking forward to seeing him on stage. He has always been a very underrated actor as far as I am concerned. I just think he has made some bad choices over the years. My guess is it isn't him. It is simply his managers pushing him into some questionable projects. I for one hope this will give him the opportunity to prove to all those naysayers that he is indeed a very talented actor. Break a leg Mr. Fraser.

See Rock Of Ages On Broadway This Fall For Below Face Value

I will be the first to admit that when I heard that somebody was creating a new musical featuring some of Rock's beat songs from the 80's I was a bit skeptical. Now don't get me wrong. I love the music of the 80's. In fact it is probably my favorite area when it comes to music. It's just that over the years the whole "Jukebox Musical" has been hit or miss.

You see for every Mamma Mia and Jersey Boys there is a Good Vibrations and All Shook Up. Therefore when I went to see it for the first time I walked in with a little hesitation. Cut to almost two years later and I have seen the show four times. Looks like I was wrong. If you are looking for a great night in the theatre then Rock of Ages is the show for you.

The one thing I love most about the show except for the music of course is the fact that it is bringing people to Broadway that might not usually come in the first place. Maybe by seeing Rock of Ages that might encourage them to check out other shows as well. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show yet I have good news for you my friends.

From now thru the end of October you can get tickets to see this Tony nominated musical for prices that are......wait for it....below face value. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not good for Columbus Day Weekend (Oct 8-10) and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway.
