I know what you're thinking. Hasn't The Lion King already made history by being not only one of the most successful shows on Broadway but the fact that it won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1998. Well on February 21, 2010 The Lion King is about to make history again. On that date it will surpass Rent to become the eighth longest running show on Broadway when it plays its 5,125 performance. Now while Rent is my favorite show of all time I have never seen The Lion King on Broadway. Those of you who read my blogs know that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. However I am smart enough to admit that without them there would be fewer people coming to New York to see a show. For that reason alone we should be thankful. Until next time theatre fans.
