New Play Next Fall To Begin Previews This Week

Fresh from a sold our run Off-Broadway is Next Fall. This new play written by Geoffrey Nauffts first premiered at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in May of 2009. The show which received rave reviews was scheduled to close in June but due to it's popularity was extended three times before finally closing in August of that year. Previews are set to begin on February 16 at the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway with an official opening set for March 11.

Producing the show for it's Broadway run is Tony winner Elton John and his partner David Furnish. According to a article in the New York Times Mr. John and Mr. Furnish issued a statement about the show thru their publicist. It said, "We are excited to join the team bringing Geoffrey Nauffts’ extraordinary play to Broadway. After fulfilling experiences bringing new musicals to the stage, it was seeing this inspiring and timely new work that attracted us to take on our first play.”

Now having two high profile producers on it's side should get the show a lot of needed publicity. Also with very few new plays opening up this season it has a good shot of getting one of the four highly coveted slots for this years Tony Award for Best Play.
