Unless you've been living under a rock the last couple of months you know Emmy and Oscar winner Robin Williams will be returning to Broadway this Spring in a new play. A Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo is set to begin previews at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on March 11 with opening night scheduled for March 31. Besides the fact that Robin Williams is in the show I really don't know wnything about it. Here is a brief description of the show according from a production source.
"Oscar, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actor Robin Williams ("Good Morning, Vietnam," "Good Will Hunting") makes his Broadway acting debut as the title feline in the play. Billed as "savagely funny," the play is described this way by the producers: "A tiger haunts the streets of present day Baghdad seeking the meaning of life. As he witnesses the puzzling absurdities of war, the tiger encounters Americans and Iraqis who are searching for friendship, redemption and a toilet seat made of gold."
Funnyman Robin Williams as a tiger? Sign me up.As of now it is only scheduled to run thru July 3 but if reviews are good expect the show to extend thru the Summer. The show which was a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize is not only one this season's most highly most anticipated shows of the season but one of the most fascinating.Good seats are still available so don't delay. Get your tickets to see A Bengal Tiger At The Baghdad Zoo. Expect this show to be a big contender at this year's Tony Awards.
