Theatre Switch:Next To Normal Will Now Play The Booth

Well it looks like The Story of My Life's loss is Next To Normals gain. Following the quick closing of Life it was announced today that the acclaimed production of Next To Normal will now play at the Booth Theatre instead of the Longacre. This is good news as most had felt that the Longacre was too big for this intimate six person show. Previews will begin, as originally scheduled, on March 27 with an opening on April 15.

In a statement Next to Normal producer David Stone said, "When the Broadway transfer of Next to Normal was being planned, my producing partners and I were looking for an intimate 800-seat theatre for this 6-person musical. We were happy to book the Longacre Theatre and were willing to make the concession of closing the balcony to create our desired capacity. However, when the Booth Theatre became available and was offered, we knew it was the right space for Next to Normal without alteration."

Michael Grief, who directed both the Off-Broadway and Arena Stage productions of Next to Normal, will direct on Broadway as well. The Broadway production will also boast the entire Arena Stage cast: Alice Ripley, J. Robert Spencer, Aaron Tveit, Jennifer Damiano, Adam Chanler-Berat and Louis Hobson.

Show times will be Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 3 and 7:30 PM.
