"The Toxic Avenger Musical" Arrives Off-Broadway March 18th

A lot of people think that the Off-Broadway Musical is dead. Well I for one don't think that's true. Look at the transfer of Rock of Ages and the success of Altar Boyz and the Marvelous Wonderettes. This show has the makings of another Little Shop of Horrors. A show that could have a huge cult following just like the movie has enjoyed since 1986. With music by Bon Jovi's own David Bryan the Toxic Avenger Musical has been born. The show will play the New World Stages and begins performances on Wednesday, March 18th, 2009. The show will star Nancy Opel who we all loved in Urinetown. She's a wacky character actress who is just perfect for this show. I can't wait to see this zany, crazy lady do her thing in this screwball musical comedy!

The Toxic Avenger is set in the mythical town of Tromaville, Exit 13B, off the New Jersey Turnpike. An aspiring earth scientist, Melvin Ferd the Third, is determined to clean up the town's burgeoning toxic waste, until he is tossed into a vat of radioactive goo and emerges as a seven-foot mutant freak and New Jersey's first superhero. Armed with superhuman strength and a heart as big as Newark, he's out to save New Jersey, end global warming and woo Sarah, the prettiest, blindest librarian in town.
