Broadway Grosses

Well another seven days has passed so that means it's time for for my look at last weeks Broadway grosses. Now based in what I am seeing it wasn't a great week for a lot of shows. In fact only two shows hit the one million mark. Last week there were five. Those two shows were Wicked and The Lion King. Now granted it was the last week in February which is normally a slow week. However when you consider that six shows saw a drop off of more than 20% that is not a good sign.

The good news is that Spring is just around the corner which means the kids will be out of school and more people will be coming into the city now and for Easter. Not only that but we still have fifteen more new shows to open in the next couple of months. Hopefully we will see a big increase in ticket sales very soon. If not I'm afraid we might see a few closings on the horizon.Let's hope not. Less shows means less people coming to Broadway. That is not good news. Keep your fingers crossed.
