Its been said that "cats have nine lives". Well I'm not so sure of that but I can tell you that since the show's return to the London Palladium in 2014 for its revival run, Cats has played all around the world and is making a return to the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway in New York City, starting previews on July 14, 2016. I can't wait.
Cats is a phenomenal Andrew lloyd Webber musical that has been adapted from the TS Eliot "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" of the 1930's. I still remember when I saw it in New York early in its run. At the time the Winter Garden Theatre was completely renovated so that John Napier's set design could fit into an entirely new space that resembled a huge junkyard playground. During the show, one by one the Jellicle Cats come out, each telling their own story as they prepare of the once yearly Jellicle Ball.
Cats has played all over the world and over 73 million theatre-goers have seen the show to date. This revival of Cats should start selling lots of tickets as a new generation gets to enjoy one of the most successful musicals in the history of the theatre.
