Twenty-one years ago I attended a performance of the Broadway revival of Showboat. Now to be honest the only reason I was going was because my former roommate and friend was making his Broadway debut, and of course I had to support him. Not too mention it was a free ticket. So there I sat in the Rear Orchestra of the Gershwin Theatre waiting for the show to begin.
Cut to almost three hours later, and I soon realized that I had just been witness to one of the greatest shows that I had ever seen. Two months later the show would go on to win five 1995 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival of the Year. I guess wasn't the only one who loved the show now was I? So now that you know a little bit about it's history I'm guessing you probably want to know what the show's about right? Well I'll tell you.
Set in the Deep South during the turn of the 20th Century, Showboat takes place on the Cotton Blossom as it makes it's way up and down the mighty Mississippi. Over a span of forty years, we see the lives of the crew evolve as the world's attitude toward race and freedom evolve as well. When it first premiered in 1927, Showboat was a ground breaking musical that changed the course of musical theatre forever. Now for the first time in over twenty years Showboat returns for the first time in a glorious new production.
So there you have it folks. Now all that's left is to get your tickets to see it. The only question is how to get them? Well thankfully for you, you have come to the right place. We sell them. Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts will take care of the rest. It's as simple as that. Get your tickets to see Showboat in London at the New London Theatre. You will love it.
