Well would you look at that? And here I thought my day couldn't get any better? Not only is one of my favorite actresses heading to the stage, but she is starring in one of my favorite shows.
Sweet Charity, which first premiered on Broadway in 1966, is heading back to New York in a brand new production. Only this time this Cy Coleman/Dorothy Fields/Neil Simon classic is opening Off-Broadway.
Oh and did I mention it is starring two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Charity Hope Valentine? That alone is worth the price of admission right? I think so. The show, which is being produced by the award winning New Group, is set to open at the The Pershing Square Signature Center in November.
As of now tickets are not on sale. However when they do you can bet we will be selling them. So, now that you know when and where it's playing, I'm guessing you might want to know a little bit about the show right? Of course you do. Anyway here is a brief synopsis about the show to tell you more. Enjoy!
Sweet Charity tells the story of dancer and eternal optimist Charity Valentine, who works day and night at the seedy Fan-Dango Ballroom. After a string of bad relationship's she finally meets Oscar, the man of her dreams. Ashamed of her profession she tells him that she works in a bank. Shortly after proposing marriage Oscar learns the truth and break things off with Charity. Despite her prospects she never gives up hope of eventually finding love. And in the end isn't that what it's all about?
Now do you see what it is one of my favorite's? Tickets for the show are set to go on sale soon in the coming months. Not only that but we will be selling them. In fact we sell every show and event in New York. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Sweet Charity this Fall at the Pershing Square Signature Center. Who knows? I might just see you there. Until next time theatre fans.
